New Model from Intermountain

This morning's Intermountain Reservations page has a new model, the Trinity  3281 Covered Hopper in a bunch of road names. Now if they can just release them this century...........

Fantastic news!!!  This very car was the subject of recent discussion here.  Next to 53' JB Hunt / UPS / Schneider containers, this was the biggest gap in my fleet.  The IM 3-bay Trinity is one of my favourite cars, so I trust IM to do a good job with the 2-bays, enough so that I will pre-order.

I know they've balked on lots of paint schemes when pre-orders weren't there, but have they ever announced new tooling and not produced?

It is rare for me to bookmark a 'product discussion' thread, but this one looks like a winner.

(I wonder if the LEZ couplers/pockets will fit, and if it would be possible to make etched end ladders for these....  :ashat:)

The IM 3-Bays are nice, but my IM PS 3 Bays are a little crude by comparison (but purchased in 2003).  Do newer releases of the PS match the Trinity in materials and fit/finish?

Short answer: no.  That is a good model to acquire in kit form.

Will be adding one more freight car to my "must have" list.....in several road names.  Will improve the looks of the cars going into my cement plant.

IM, please don't back off any of these....they are almost guaranteed to sell!

Very nice to see this model, I know it is a priority for several modern folk here, and I remember the discussion about these a few weeks ago.

I might add that the kit price is very attractive for those wishing to paint it themselves anyway.  I'll be in for some of these if I can find prototypes in Canada, eh?
