Bought this Bachmann beauty today for the princely sum of $6.31 (tax included). The front truck was loose in the bag but the motor run, Did what was needed to get the truck back where it belonged, put her on rails, applied power and watched her take off and run around the layout.

Only problem I can see is the rapido couplers but the loco is new enough they are body mounted.Thinking about MTL 905s but not quite sure how to mount them.

Quite the busy week on the Kanto Sub; a full report is in the Kanto thrad in Layout Engineering Reports.... The station is now complete and planted....

A Canadian Pacific Type A station; a fun build of styrene and basswood. It captures the feel and lines, if not all the dimensions; I had to cheat on the operators cupola and add 1.5 feet.... no small windows....

The downtown is virtually done; only some small details to add

The largest industry on the layout, Feuers Forest Products is now complete; all I ned to do is plant everything, including some new buildings and detail it....

Now I'm ballasting; I hate ballasting..... but its got to get done....

All in all; lots of progress this week.... and even ran some trains....

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Seems camera trains/videos have been at the top recently.  Continuing that theme here's two videos from our show a few weeks ago.

Wow! Great stuff so far! :o

Finally did some more work on my SW1500 kitbashes. The finished unit and two of the unfinished ones were started before the MT release, so I decided to finish them and I more recently added two more to the mix (one more SP and one ex-Conrail unit). Got units fitted to frames and added shortened fuel tanks to three of them....

Nice... reminds me of one of SP's "desperation" lashups from the '70s as they tried to relieve the backlog in West Colton. :D

Nothing too new to report this week. I'm still chasing a completely random short in my W3 mikado build. Although last night I did have it run for 2 hours with no shorts, so there is that.

I took a few projects off the shelf and started reviewing them for continuation. my "Heavy" 2-6-6-2T is back on the work bench, hopefully I will be able to start with detailing soon, as I feel that the major construction is pretty much done. I also reviewed the 2-4-4-2 "Skookum" project I have been tinkering with off and on for years, and determined that the design I was working with for a mech is just not feasible at this moment. So I shelved that idea. Although the "failure" of that design has inspired an oddball idea. I am starting to look into what I would need to do to build an "Americanized" Garratt steamer. I got some ideas, some that might actually work! I also received a package from atlas today, 11 NP ore cars, minus trucks and couplers. I would like to get my hands on 89 more. :scared: I plan to draw bar these together in 10 car strings, and ultimately pull them behind the W3.

A resin caboose I had built, painted, and partially decalled fell on floor of the back of my car as I was unloading stuff and my son stepped on it. Oh well. I think I can repair it.

Mark W - Thanks for the vids, I knew I should have turned south at Mo Valley and went to the show! But home was a long drive off yet...

Doing some weathering work this weekend, then to do some DCC work on a GHQ Milw Baltic for the brother in Iowa.
Northern Pacific in the Badlands, in N-scale of course!

Chris,

As always, your work looks spectacular.  But, did you come up 1/8" short on the striping on the cab?  Never fails, does it?   ;)

Already much groovy work!
Mark W: very cool idea for the self-stick.
Do you have a pic that includes the flatcar camera too?
Just wanted to see how you attached the brass rod.

And to continue run of train show videos, here's one from our Free-moN set up at the Great Train Show in Richmond, CA last weekend:

And I brought my daughter's & my 1'x6' Alameda Belt-in-a-Box layout to the show:

Craneway Pavilion usually has amazing light, but both days were pretty grey.
Tried to grab some the shots while the sun was shining, but it disappeared pretty fast.

Thanks for looking, and for sharing all yr fab work: very inspiring!
Have a rocking weekend.
