How sure are you about the silver roof? As I have no idea.

No , I'm not really sure but I remember the old HO scale TYCO ones had silver roofs, they must have been right....

Hmmm......, TYCO, seems iffy. I'm starting to get visions of something Lionel would do and I don't think I want to go down that road.   :scared:  Without definitive proof, I may leave the roof brown. YMMV.  :)

The ladders and the door hinges look black, what do you think?

It was common to paint the hardware on railcars black so you might be correct.

I have no clue about the roof either, I was joking about the TYCO source.

Dunno - I have the old ConCor version and it has a brown roof.  Surely ConCor is just as authoritative as Tyco?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

The lettering is silver. I used Scalecoat roof brown only because I had it and I'm actually pleased with the way it turned out.

Looks good Randy.  That photo also reminds me how overstated the hinges are on the Atlas car when compared to the MT reefers.  But then that makes them easier to paint with contrasting color.

Thanks for posting that car, it looks really nice.

They've been talking about these decals on one of the Yahoo groups about the inaccuracy of the lettering on the various sets.  It's nice to see it in person since they don't show the artwork on the ebay listings.

Is it rampant inaccuracies? And which ones? Do you have a link?

No idea on how every set compares.  I just know some people who care about such things weren't overly impressed and seeing this set I can understand why they might feel that way.

Car still looks cool, and for one-offs the lettering probably doesn't matter as much.

If this were a PRR decal, we'd have 7 pages of how bad it is.  :P

I'm just guessing here but I gathered from his listings that these are replacement decals for existing antique kits. I surmise that these are new copies of old decals along with the ancient inaccuracies.

The decals themselves are very nice . They are easy to use and look great in my opinion.

Anyhow , thanks for complimenting my model !!!
