Centralia Superdome Passenger cars

Intermountain has listed Centralia Superdome Passenger cars.

I haven't done much research, but I'm assuming these may be the Pullman Standard full dome cars originally designed for the Milwaukee Road, not the slab-sided Budd full dome car of the Great Northern. (The dome windows are wrong for that one.)

Wrong prototype for Santa Fe and the dome windows are wrong. Don't know if it would provide a base for the M&R dome sides.

There were at least 3 different full-dome prototypes (not counting the SP 3/4 domes).   The prototype for Centralia model is the "Superdome", built by Pullman-Standard for the Milwaukee, later sold to CN, Amtrak and others.   The current (last) Amtrak full dome car is an ex-GN "Great Dome" built by Budd.   The Santa Fe domes were also built by Budd and are the prototype for the Bachmann car.

Yup. I think Ocean View makes the rounds on non-Superliner trains. We had it here in January on #391/392. We made a point to catch a round trip or two while it was running on our trains. Lovely car - heavy and six axles make for a smooth ride.

No... the dome shape is completely wrong for a Budd Big or Great dome car.

Ah... no they don't.  The car is a Budd Great Dome... the Fall paint scheme used on the IM model is based on one of the schemes the prototype has wore over the years.

Lets hope that flush windows will be included... would definitely affect how good the car will look if they are not...

And lets hope Kato yet offers at least the ATSF Big Dome to go along with their ATSF trainsets.

Of course, the Transcontinental Pennsylvania has slightly different needs than the historical Pennsy.  :D

The brass sides I used were for the GN Budd cars.

If they did Conrail it would be a fooby, like the GN, BN and Amtrak "Fall Folliage" cars are.  The Conrail car, now owned by Norfolk Southern, is a former ATSF Budd car.

To be picky, the prototype for the old Bachmann car is the ATSF Budd dome after it was modified for Auto-Train, which is where the big letterboard comes from.

I do second the motion for Kato to reproduce the ATSF dome (either or both versions), perhaps for a San Francisco Chief. 

But all that said, I am happy for my Milwaukee Road friends that this dome is on the way.  And I am also happy that there is at least one new passenger car that I don't have to buy, as my dollars are committed to various bits of N scale vaporware (CEI F units) and various other things that have been hinted at (single window coach), and MT cars to be used for cores for the L&N coaches coming from BCS.
