I like them the way they are in the white-background photo. 

That is exactly one of those more photogenic positions I mentioned. Crank @5 and counterweight @11 o'clock.  :D

The new neolube application looks great and a pose with the rods at an angle would just be a little icing on the cake.  That is an outstanding piece of work.  Plenty to be proud of in that one. 8)

Finally... I think it's done.. LOL!   

Everyone, I want you all to know that yes, I am very proud of this, but I wasn't joking when I said I could not have made it here without you all.  Criticism, feedback, and encouragement are so important to keeping one's spirits and motivation up over a long-term project like this.  In that sense, I think Railwire is coaxing the very best out of all of us.

That's perfect!
I haven't noticed this in the previous photo: The reflections of the brass-colored backs of the tender wheels are reflecting in the black surface causing a glow between the tender wheels.  You didn't blacken them?  :trollface: :trollface:

I have been watching and what a beautiful accomplishment on the 0-6-0 project.  Just a suggestion;  Hire on with Athearn (for a million or so),  and show China manufactures how to build quality Challengers.  Fantastic work you can be proud of.  Doug

I think the word "impossible" has been redefined.  Truly exceptional work, Max. 

What you need to do now is to photoshop the model in front of the SPS shops circa 1940.  Folks restoring full size locomotives could use it for reference.

There's always one smart (*#)(*  in the room.   :)
Actually, those tender wheels are nickel silver, not really brass-colored, but the wheel backs are probably a little dirty.

It still runs nice (I didn't screw it up with the paint).  I ain't touchin' it again!

That was a big part of the design right from the early stages - to make everything go together with screws and solder as much as possible, and maintain the ability to disassemble the model all along (not paint myself into a corner, for example, so that I could no longer take out the drivers or the motor, and could always get the body shells, rods, cylinders off).  That made the model take a LOT longer to build, but it really paid off.  You are right that it is delicate.  But it's actually a lot stronger than it looks and a lot more durable than other engines I've built.

I knew that you would enjoy a little good-humor ribbing!  :)  BTW, nickel silver is a type of brass.  :P :)

Funny though how the first black beauty  :) photo doesn't really show those strong reflections of the wheels under the tender. Either the position of the camera or the light source was different.  I find those reflections (in your last photo) a bit distracting. Just me I guess. Just a personal opinion since I  know that you are always striving for perfection.
