Just shot some samples of the FGE castings.

Exciting to see these coming together.

I didn't get much done this week, just got my NS SD90MAC back together for a test run, now to take it back apart for weathering.

Another alternative for the K4 pilot coupler would be a McHenry.

Yeah, but that ting is almost as large as the Bachmann's EZ Mate "boxing glove"!  I think the Unimate looks pretty good there. Another possibility would be the Arnold/Vlk coupler (when those become available).

Visited RandGust's fine layout yesterday.

Images coming next week (and it's a very well done layout!)...

Did pick up one of his "waffle-sided" tractor trailer resin kits.

He offers them on his website: http://www.randgust.com/prod071.htm

I operated on an HO layout last night and now I'm looking at HO locomotives on that evil site.

Our yardmaster usually brings his own motive power, so the layout owner usually doesn't assign him power for his job.  We all started our assignments and he asks " Where's my power ? "  Long story short, it was a rolling joke the rest of the night, and before we all left for the evening, the layout owner stated next session is BYOL (Bring Your Own Locomotive).  It should be an interesting mix that shows up if everyone remembers.  Two of us are N Scale guys, so that might not work so well.  Layout is modern UP Borg, with a handful of patched SP units and BNSF motive power.  Others that are in HO have Western Maryland themed layouts.  RS-3's in fireball pulling an ethanol train perhaps ??? :D

This looks so much better, in the words of DFF or Steely Dan DO IT AGAIN. Lowered the deck, new bridge
piers (not all in and painted yet). Gone are the block pier anchors.

Made some modifications to Rapido's limited-run Conrail OCS sleeper, including: removing the mold lines on the roof; removing the painted shades and silver window trim and painting the trim black; painting the interior tan; painting the bathroom window; changing the hallway railing to .006" stainless steel wire; painting the grabs yellow; and swapping in Kato excursion diaphragms.  Not happy with the Pullman green paint matching on the touch-ups, so I'll repaint the roof and ends at a later date.

Converted my Kato P42 Genesis to DCC. With that said, the only other engine I have to convert is my Norfolk Southern SD70m. Then my entire engine fleet will be fully-converted to DCC!  :D

Get something really unique like a British Railways Class 17 in BR Blue.

Or any UK-outline diesel for that matter.

 Joe D

An SP&S 0-6-0 switcher that I want to make "completely" from scratch - which means the wheels, frame, cylinders,
rods,... everything (and of course the boiler and tender).     My hope is to only use a commercial motor and gears...
well, okay, and screws and an LED maybe ;-)

One last project for the weekend.  This is a Monroe Models Branchline Trestle kit I shortened a little and modified to fit a 10" radius curve and a 2% grade for the Aspen branch of the Colorado Midland.

It's a great little kit.  Easy to build with parts that fit together nicely.  My only critique is that the white metal girder beams are a bit crude, but they could easily be replaced.  I chose to use mine anyway.  I recommend this kit.

EDIT:  Just learned this kit is discontinued, so if you want want...act fast!
