I don't know about the other owners, but as far as I can find, all WFEX/BREX/NPM/BNFE mechanical reefers, except the first batch of WFEX, were built with roller bearings.  That first run of WFEX were 44 ft cars, so they aren't what you're looking for anyway.  You're right that your models should have roller bearing trucks.

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to justify running them with the old trucks while acquiring new ones.  If anyone complains, tell them they have adapters, then keep them at least three feet from the models, so they can't see the trucks!

For any interested manufacturer:  The BNFE 8400 series Kiz linked to came from WFEX, and were built in 1964, so they're newer than either the MT or Atlas cars.  They're very close to the old Con-Cor "modern" reefer, but were built with roofwalks and high brakewheels, while the CC model is a late 60s version.  These were used by several roads, and would make a nice companion to the Athearn/MDC and Intermountain cars.

Just about finished with the South Boulder Works Shapeways FM H10-44 that I showed last week. Got the railings soldered together and the glass installed. Still have to wire in the lights and add some light weathering but I'll call this one a success. Now I just need a second unit to MU with it !

Finally got Bachmann's PRR K4 at Nicholas Smith Trains today. This model was a long time coming, but it's a pleasure to run and meets most of my expectations.

trying to figure out a nice tight way to keep the switch thrown,  the N scale code 55 caboose ground throws just don't cut it for me, so experimentation

Proto 48 is O scale.

Kiz,

PFE 301209 (I think that's an R-70-6)  seems to be almost a perfect match for the Atlas 50' reefer (and shows roller bearings in the photo).

I just noticed that there appear to be twovariations of the Atlas car.  One has the hand brake at the opposite end from the refrigeration unit (which is correct), the other has it on the same end as the refrigeration unit (which is not).  Spookshow shows an example with hand brake on the wrong end.

If you got 100 or so of them, do you have a mix with hand brakes at either end?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I did a spot check of about 20 cars, and all of them are correct. Whew! Dodged a bullet...

Hmm... and it shattered

Several members here have used slide switches as turnout throws. @Lemosteam even makes dummy remote turnout throws on Shapeways to conceal them and provide a better grip.

Can we just do away with the myth that 3D printing's resolution isn't good enough?  This looks spectacular!  Great modeling!
