The Con-Cor MP15DC motor is not a Mashima

I have read this numerous times from various sources in the past.
I am in the process of parting one out, and the motor didn't look like a Mashima at all.

The smaller-than 1.5mm shaft diameter was suspicious, so I pulled it apart.

Nope.  This is just a fairly cheap 3-pole straight-wound motor.    Since I've been under the wrong
impression about this for years, I thought I'd "blow the whistle" .. ha ha  :D

(than again... I know the 1015 has a 1.5mm shaft, but do we really know it has 5 poles?)
YET ANOTHER EDIT:  Yes, we do.  It has 5 poles.

Interesting info Max!

But playing a devil's advocate, who is to say that Mashima also doesn't make inexpensive 3-pole straight-wound motors with finger brushes?   Could you pull the flywheel off the plastic end of the motor and see if maybe there is MASHIMA molded into the plastic?

If the shaft is not 1.5 or 1.2mm, it might be some Imperial size (like 1/32").

It was the Atlas model that had the Mashima motor. With fingers instead of brushes.

I thought Victor tested that Atlas motor and that it was a 3 pole...

Victor?

Isn't is feasible that what I mentioned in the post before Chris333's could be applicable?  Mashima could make low-end motors too.  Or is this a totally unreasonable speculation?

I don't think it's totally unreasonable, but I don't see any evidence to support that this motor is a Mashima in any of the places where it is labeled as such.  I think "somebody" just said it because it looks like the smaller 1015,
and everybody assumed it was true and it snowballed from there.   That, coupled with the fact that all of Mashima's other motors follow a similar design for shaft diameter, armature design, and brushes, and even their open-frame motors are nothing like this motor,
makes me think that it is highly unlikely that this is an unbranded, unmarked low-end Mashima.

It was so long ago... I just remember the Atlas MP15 motor was a Mashima and it was either 3 pole with finger brushes or 5 pole with finger brushes. At the time I had the same exact sized motor from Mashima. I took mine apart and the brushes were completely different. Mine was 5 pole. Never remember anything about the Concor model.

Here's the link to an old Atlas forum Q&A on these motors.  I bet there are more.

The claim in here is that the CC motor is a 1015 Mashima.  But it sure ain't.

 :)
Mashima-san was going to retire around 2008.
but demand for the Motors stayed high,so He Continued
  to produce them.
don't think the carrying on of production included Low End
  type motors as shown above.
arnt there enuff producers like Mabuchi to cover mass produced
  Low End Motors ?
just wondering, have no stake in this duel as wouldn't ever buy
anything Con-Cor after the late 80s HO MP15 that was a DAWG !!
even the Kato Motor would almost FRY after 5 minutes of running.
never saw another Motor from Kato do anything like that, before
  or since.

Spookshow's website says this is a 3 pole, straight wound motor.

That's because I sent him this information yesterday and he changed his web page.   ;)

And the Atlas MP15 always had a 3 pole motor:

http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=23999&whichpage=2

So there ya go.  Neither of these MP15's ever had a 5-pole and never had a Mashima.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I thought Victor's victim was a LifeLike SW1200.  I guess we would have to dig into Atlas forum archive.

Found it!  http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=24222
But as you said, he also tortured the Atlas MP15 in http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=23552
