Micro Trains cancellation of the SW1500 for 2016?

I am not sure if there is any credibility to this rumor but it was reported on a UK site that MT has cancelled its run of SW1500s for 2016 due a  chassis problem.

Maybe someone here can provide further information.

The mailer said it was just the BNSF and MKT that were cancelled due to a chassis issue.

Maybe they have finally solved the dcc decoder shorting problem and those runs have to be cancelled to reset the delivery schedule?

It seems to me that Micro-Trains cancelled the two runs scheduled for early next year so they can fix some problem(s) with the chassis. They didn't cancel any other runs, because these were the only 2 models that were scheduled.

They have cancelled at least one other announced road name for the SW1500 previously due to lack of preorders.

Why they would cancel--versus delay--due to a chassis issue is anybody's guess.   I suspect that MKT wasn't going to "make" anyway so they figured it would be easier to just make the call (given the "chassis issue") and redo the BNSF later.   Just a guess.

I've read somewhere recently that the Rail America SW1500 was canceled due to low reservations, but this development is new to me.

I hope the issue isn't lack of availability of the chassis..

Hopefully Joe can chime in with some detail... Or someone can ask MT at Milwaukee and elaborate.

can't get into the details right now, but we are working on a better situation then we have now.  I think issues we had working with a secondary source for the chassis will be corrected as well.
