For some reason I have very low expectation about this company doing much in N scale, but  I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Odd that they would advertised "unlicensed", as if that is a good thing.  I'm not even sure what it means? Does it mean that they should be licensed and aren't, and therefore have an air of illegality?  Or does it mean that they don't have to be licensed, because they deviate from reality (like the Woodland Scenics 1950's cars that are a hodgepodge of familiar automotive design elements)?

Well it would only make sense to me if whatever design they speak of has lapsed into the public domain ...

Yard truck seems to come to my mind.  Like an Ottawa.  There was a metal kit a while back and the Kato ones, but that's about it if I remember correctly.  Let me know if I missed one.  But seeing as they said intermodal, a lift vehicle of some sort does make sense.  Wonder if they will make the cranes like CSX has here in Columbus.  The same ones they put in the new yard north of here.  Those are pretty big though.  But pretty cool to watch.

Walthers had a cast resin yard tractor about 20 years ago that they called an Ottawa.  I am thinking (hoping) we might be getting a really nice 53-ft container chassis.   ;)

Edit:  I forgot to mention the metal model was from GHQ, and it was definitely an Ottawa.  The Kato model is a Capacity.

I have the one from GHQ.  Bought it at Bedford one year in a plastic bag.  It's unassembled still and boxed away from a move 3 years ago with other resin vehicle kits that are waiting for assembly.  Thanks for reminding me who made it so I didn't have to go on an archaeological expedition .  Thinking about it, a nice 53', or even 48' chassis would be nice for my modern intermodal train.  I've plenty of 40' chassis from Deluxe for my earlier era's trains.  Guess we will just have to wait.

Pleasantly surprised is an understatement.  Thank you Scale Trains!

But we still don't have a really nice 53-ft chassis for them.

I noticed they said "Compatible with 53' Container Chassis".

I am hoping that means they might eventually make one.

In another thread, Peteski said he talked to the Scale Trains rep, and he told him the new containers would work well interlock with the Kato containers.  It could be that Scale Trains containers are compatible with the Kato expandable container chassis.

Has anyone figured out a prototype for the Kato container chassis?   :?

Thinking about the container announcement a little more, I wonder if we can expect a 53' well car from them next?

As there are multiple Maxi-IV models in HO and N, maybe a NSC or Thrall (Atlas in HO)????

Just to clarify, the sales rep told me that their containers are designed to fit the Kato double-stack container (well) cars and to interlock with Kato containers.
