PRR Switch Machines now available at Keystone Details!

The next product at Keystone Details are RH and LH PRR style switch machines.  They are designed to fit micro DPDT switch handles so a short 00-90 screw can be threaded through the the machine and into the handle.

There is a small dimple inside the model for drilling a 00-90 clearance hole. If it is not drilled, the machine can be glued in place as a line side detail.h

I like the idea and the availability you provide for these!

does this necessitate placing the slide switch (electrical) in line with the center of the throw rod
or does it allow for that switch to be placed on either side of the throw rod?

The mahine goes wherever you place the switch.  I could look into fitting the switch handle in three positions...

Interesting offering. Do you have a picture of one of these installed next to a turnout?

If your looking for suggestions..., how about an FM flatcar and/or the brackets used to hold the DD1 containers?

The FM is still in the works with Camden & Amboy Models. A lack of detailed information has slowed things down, but short of a natural disaster, if there is still a market demand for the FM-class flatcar, the announced deadline can still be met.

If the standard FM-class flatcars sell well enough, the container-carrying version could be a possibility.

Yes, but I'm not going to wait for them when I have already chopped 2 Red Caboose flats down and sanded off the sides. If you release an FM and DD1s, I'll buy for sure, but until then, I need to make chicken salad out of chicken poo, as Stone Cold Steve Austin would say.

The challenge of the marketplace is that if you take too long you may get scooped.

The fact that the Red Caboose models can be kitbashed into the container version makes me inclined to skip producing the container-carrying version and instead move on to other projects.

The standard FM-class flatcar project is still going ahead, and provided the world doesn't end, C&A still stands to meet it's April 23rd relase date as announced. Some minor compromises are necessary, but an N-scale PRR FM-Class flatcar will hit the market on April 23rd, 2016.

It was just going to be for my layout, but i said to myself, WTH. I just wanted something larger than a tiny micro switch tab to grip when moving the points and changing polarity on the frog.

I'm curious how much cheaper you're trying for.  Seems like a lot of work for something that's $.75.  Small parts get crushed by the $5 handling charge.  A pack of 20 would be about $1 a piece.

If it let you print just one, you shouldn't need a sprue because it must meet the minimum build box.  It's just extra material.  I can't remember of they changed the rules on loose pieces but I'd try without first.
