Locomotive projects

Well since I really don't feel like taking the layout apart,, I am distracting myself by working on a few loco projects.

I hate not having number boards on my locos, I also have severe distaste for the wrong number style, or the wrong number all together,,, all together,," or the wrong number" excuse the " airplane" reference. I really like the ShellScale products. They make it real easy to do these. I did use the MicroScale decals for the century, because I had them on hand. To do my GBW century I ordered the right style from ShellScale,, that unit is up next.

The CNW century was re-numbered from 402 to 403. So now I have three units, 402,403 and 404. They make a real nice lash up!!!







I like the one off units, so this my SOO bandit made from a Kato Chessie unit,, not the best,, but it will pass. I also used the ShellScale decals for the number boards. The other number boards were just to small for my tastes.

Those do look really good.  I wish Shellscale made them for steam locos.

I was skeptical of the existence of this unit, but upon some research, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was incorrect! your model looks like an excellent representation of an interesting unit. Your other units likewise exhibit exemplary modeling skills that I hope to emulate in future endeavors.

Josh, I will be in the LP/OP, other wise known as the Listening Post/ Observation Post. I am trying to get all the little projects done before I have to pack up everything.

To all:
 I was really pleased with the back lit boards,, was not expecting that. I was hoping for it. I think the main thing that helped was using clear lightboards,,not ones with the numbers on them.

The next project will be painting all the handrails white in the correct spots according to prototype pictures. And painting the whole handrail assembly on the CNW SD 45. I HATE UN PAINTED HANDRAILS!!!!!! ( and shinny trip pins on MT couplers) lol

I am also looking to do SOO 6491 and 6492. Those are two SD 45's that were originally in BN paint that the SOO put the bandit on. I have the units, and the all the decals,, just need to get going on those.

Hopefully,, I can get all this done before I pack my stuff up. I really don't want to move to a new house, but I am stuck like chuck.
