Hello all,

Another run of the PRR R50B reefer kits is pending at the end of this month. We have 60 kits that are complete and ready to sell.
I am still maneuvering around my wife's treatment schedule, but she was out of town for five days and that gave Gregg and I some
extra time to get this run ready!

For those of you new to this Pennsy reefer project, check out these links.

Also see the second run info and Josh's (Chicken 45) excellent photo of his completed kit:

This will be another eBay run, like last time.
I am planning to set up the eBay sale for the last weekend of October.
I will provide details and a link when it is ready to go.

Again, this is NOT a GHQ project, and I ask that you do not contact them with questions about it.
Gregg and I assembled, packaged, and will ship the available kits ourselves.

Thanks for your support and for your patience!

Best regards,
Michael Livingston

Would have to think that an occasional RB 50 went south on ACL or L&N connections.  They certainly made it into ATSF consists headed toward LA.

I've seen them in photos at Atlanta, Memphis and Birmingham. I even have a photo of one being set out just down the road from me in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on the Illinois Central in 1950.

I'm going to go ahead and say it's theoretically possible that they came off the PRR interchange with NS at Little Creek.

Please post the link here when you go live with your auction.  I'd like to have 2-3 of them for my new K4 to haul.

Hate to say it but not likely.  These cars were kept in express service which meant that they moved at high speeds in passenger, express and mail trains and expedited freights.  Fruits and vegetables along with express shipments required quick delivery and the PRR wasted no time getting such shipments where they needed to go.  No such thing happened on the Delmarva.

For CNW fans, check out page 113 in Lloyd Keysers " Chicago and North Western in Color Volume 2". Photo of a R50B behind a FM 16-66 in a mixed train leaving Eau Claire Wisconsin in 1958. The caption indicates it is to be set out at Chippewa Falls to be loaded with express from the post office and shoes from the Mason Shoe factory. It goes on to say that it was set out at Altoona Wi on train 515 and will be picked up by train 514. A little research into trains 515/514 would tell you what route it traveled on the CNW.

Interesting little operation.

Hrm, PRR was part of the Fruit Growers Express consortium, as was NS.  I model potato country during potato harvest season.  I think that's enough justification.
