Yeah, mine too.  One thing that does bother me about those calipers is that it seems I always need to remove the battery to prolong the life of it.
It has auto shut-off and that feature is functional but there is still some current draw apparently.

Bussey did a nice plug door drop in recently, attachs from the inside of the car.  Just gotta get the intended model's side thicknesses right for it to "drop in" easily.

You are correct.  Mine usually lasts for less than 1 year.  I did some research on this and the power button only shuts off the display - the rest of the circuit stays powered.  The only reason I can think this is done is to retain the correct readout calibration if the jaw is moved while the caliper is turned off.  If the measuring circuit was fully turned off then you would have to manually check and possibly re-zero every time you powered it back up.

I actually would prefer that (full power-off) setup to the current one, but obviously the caliper designers don't agree with that.

I can give this a try, is it possible you could help me by measuring the outside dimensions of the door in either Metric or English (the correct and uncompressed dimensions). I'm assuming the doors are a scale 8ft wide but I just want to make sure with real dimensions from the model. I can easily do all the detailing around that once I have the base exterior size.

Doesn't MTL make double-Superior panel doors for their 50-footers?  The MTL boxcar door heights are accurate even though the boxcar body heights are not.

Don't worry I saw your request, just haven't had time to reply yet. I need to acquire an Atlas HT-C truck before I can take something like this on, the geometry for Flexicoils on the outsides aren't hard but creating the same mating surfaces as Atlas to fit over the pickup strips is. I would just want to make sure they fit perfectly before putting anything out for testing.

Yes, I can certainly take a look at that, it shouldn't be too hard to modify what I have already to make that type of bracket mount.

I just received one of the new vertical SP clusters. They look great. I do not know if it is the FXD or my poor eyes but I can not see any blemishes at all. I suspect that because they are sooo small I just can not see any. That may change when painted ? ? ? ?
