Acela Express, or the Sunset Limited with the SDP45s.
I hope it's something I don't need, I'm way over budget.  :|

Well lets apply so logical deduction:
  • Kato just put out a modern American electric passenger loco
  • Kato does European and Japanese heavy electrics
  • the Japanese are known for loving eccentric American locomotives
  • Kato could kill its domestic market and its American market with a Little Joe

I'm sure I'll be wrong - but unless they are tooling an n scale genset or Kraus-Maffii it seems the most logical choice.

Go Phil go! We have one in Shapeways, and if you paint one up, I'm sure that means Kato will produce it! Tee Hee. It always works.

Well the Flying Scotsman toured the US and Canada in 1969-73, so that will help cover the east/west and Canucks. The consist was the locomotive with a handful of cars. That's my "reasonable" speculation. Hogwarts is just me being hopeful for my inner tween-year-old.

The S.

But both Dapol and Graham Farish [by Bachmann] have done a Flying Scotsmann.
If Kato does one too, it better be in 1:160 rather than 1:148 and they better do LNER teak carriages along with the set of carriages that it toured the US with.

Although, I do like the Kraus-Maffi idea...

Javier:  I'd take either or both of those, as most of the NCL cars wound up running in Amtraks's Empire Builder or North Coast Hiawatha, and both trains use SDP40Fs in 1974.

I wonder what would happen if this announcement was a K4. Could you even imagine what would happen?

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Minitrix did the Scotsman in 1:160.

Well, just because some model was already produced doesn't seem to stop other manufacturers from producing their  version (hopefully better and more accurate than the previous versions).  I don't think it will be a Flying Scottsman - too long of a shot.  But a late 30s NYC 20th Century Ltd. train would be really nice.  :)
