last night I read that the PRR owned 10 to 15 percent of the rolling stock in the U.S.
as far as I am concerned... us SPF _are_ giving you a chance.

That doesn't mean much modeling west of Chicago where PRR is just another RR.  And much of what's getting made for PRR isn't that useful like the covered and open hoppers.

4-5 box cars, a gondola or two and a flat and you're done buying PRR stuff for the rest of your life.  But unfortunately, regular 40' XM box cars that are needed the most, are the least represented model-wise.

I'm a little confused about the GG1; Kato did a reportedly good job on this not too long ago; I guess Bachmann feels there's room in the market for two; again, not at a lower cost by any means so they really must have confidence that N scalers are hot to trot for a GG1...

I don't get that either.  We had the Arnold version for decades and the Kato's version which is fairly recent (and it looks and runs like a cat's meow).  However seeing how Kato GG1s are still available everywhere - like the Kato RDCs were, and at a deep discount (I just picked one for spare parts for $59 from Trainworld) I fail to see how Bachmann will sell enough of tgheirs to make a profit (sound or no sound).

Not bashing Bachmann - just confused.  We have seen a similar scenario with several manufacturers making models of the F-units, which seemed to all sell well, but unlike F-units (which were numerous on many, many railroads), GG1s were only used by very few railroads and not in very large quantity.

Interesting choice indeed.

I for one would like to see them (or anybody) offer some interurban-type stuff; combines, coaches, perhaps an eight-wheeled steeple cab.

Bachmann did a nice job with the Peter Witt car, and their little diesel switchers show they can make small powered units, so it seems to me perhaps some Pacific Electric models are at the very least, possible....and to my knowledge, no one's ever done any PE in N scale.

Just thinking out loud...

I wonder why they're calling the GG1 their first electric locomotive in N scale.

Jason

Maybe they meant to say first electric with factory sound? Weird.

And what about the non-sound version?  Says the same thing.

If this indicates a deep commitment to N scale, I wonder if they'd do their M&PA-style 4-4-0 in N....  Don't need one, but it'd be very sweet!

I'd also like to see their E-33 show up in N...I'd "need" a Penn Central one and probably a PC/CR paint-out.

thats just because someone was lazy and CTRL C then CTRL V'd it :D
knowing Bman though the pantographs on the GG1 will be sprung, just look at the E60, that was a trainset loco and it could draw overhead power... (iirc) but i do know those were sprung....
Im actually Excited for their GG1 and i love me some Kato... idk i may buy a Kato GG1 and do side by side run style thing...
but as others have said the MSRP for Bachmann is just a bunch of numbers... the K4 will most likely sell around $250, and the G for $225...
My DDA40X had a MSRP of $220, i only paid $134... so.... yea.... and that was like Day one...

How long are the Micro Trains paired window coaches...? 75'...72'....???????

Its has a B&O coach, which had an overall length of roughly 79½' length... roughly 76' over the ends of the vestibules.

Been waiting for them to pull the trigger on this for decades, so I won't have to scratchbuild a pair.
