I wonder why they're calling the GG1 their first electric locomotive in N scale.

So the tools and loads are interesting . . . .and we get more photos of the K-4 . . . . More KCS covered hopper goodness to go with my MTL and IM Trinity's (though not much cheaper) . . . . and if the HO Schnabel car does well we can do 127 threads on why they don't tool it for N scale - which we will then do 14 threads on how wrong it is when they do.

They probably meant their first electric N scale locomotive with DCC and sound.

But it says the exact same thing on the regular DC non-sound version too.

It's nice to see another commitment to N scale products being given. The 73' heavyweights are nice to see; albeit I still can't get a single window coach for love nor money.... :x :x :x :x :x We can send a man to the moon......

I'm a little confused about the GG1; Kato did a reportedly good job on this not too long ago; I guess Bachmann feels there's room in the market for two; again, not at a lower cost by any means so they really must have confidence that N scalers are hot to trot for a GG1...

Nice to see new products being announced.

There hasn't been a large amount of new tooling announced this year in any scale and I expect the trend to continue for awhile. Even looking at what Bachmann has in this catalog vs. last year, it's not as much.

Be interesting to see what else comes up but we'll ahve to wait until this afternoon to find out.

I guess my expectations are lower than yours..... given the economy "anything" is nice..... :D
(By the way, the price of quality tooling across the pond is rapidly rising so your thoughts about not a lot of new tooling are probably right)

It would be their first "electric" locomotive in N scale. Like RS3 is to Diesel and K4 is to Steam, GG1 is to Electric. At least that's my take on it as I can't seem to recall a previous modeled electric loco by Bachmann....

Yeah, wow, as a Pennsy fan I was just as blindsided by the Bachmann GG1 this morning as I was by the K4 last week!  Yeah, the Kato GG1 is an amazing piece of engineering.  That said, the market's pretty saturated with them; nearly every hobby shop with an N scale inventory has one in the case, and they're all over eBay.  I don't know what to make of this.  Plus, I already have more Kato Gs than I need considering I don't model PRR electrified territory.

Those 72' coaches do look nice, though...but they are not PRR prototype.  I need to get off my butt and finish the P70 upgrade I started with the Model Power coach some years ago.

The 72' coaches look close to the AFT cars, just can't see paying almost $80 per car for stand ins.

They did an Amtrak GE E60 years ago. Came in a set with some Amfleets.

Bachmann has made a few electrics in it's history like the E60CP and Metroliner.  Those are decades old now, but the Acela was this century.
