You're right. Maybe he'll remove a driver and finally get his long awaited for Atlantic... :D

Sorry for delay in getting stills of underside. Starting to be brave and open it up a BIT now. Here's 2 pix for now.

Metal trailing truck, traction tires on middle drivers.
Just took bottom plate off of drivers/gears. Looks good. Pic up in a few minutes.

Pilot truck is plastic I think. What next? Put cover plate on, and take shell off?? I'll do my best. Need to go downstairs into AC and cool off . :(

Traction tires, huh?  Well, surprise!  I, for one, am happy for that development.

I doubt there is anything to see under the hood. Motor is probably burried in the frame.

Videos are not always a reliable indicator. I wanna see this loco creep tie to tie in person. Then I'll buy it! :D

Plan on taking a long time to make a decision to buy, eh? ☺

Glad the initial reports are looking good for fans. You don't HAVE to use the whistle.

So any other image requests then? Within reason, LOL.
Can this loco have whistle/other sounds changed on DCC, then usable on DC? Anyone willing to reprogram it for me?

Had quite a start there when I first saw the WHITE plastic gearing.

the gears should be ok...
that however does imply plastic wheel centers....
no, plastic sleeves.  the bearings are metal.

Joe,
I think you will need to get the top off next.
I suggest you put the bottom plate back on until you find the screws for the top.
pull the pilot truck and then replace the bottom plate.

and then.... find teh screws for the tender shell too
the wiring usually has a disconnect in the tender...

With all that gearing on the back two axles, I see an E6 kitbash in my future....

Vic, I'll do that next. Bottom plate on to keep it clean for now. Did not see any screws on top, like in stack. 2 screws under cab, and maybe like you say, remove pilot truck. Do that later today, OK fella's?

If you have the heart to take a saw to that beauty, then props to you. For us less ambitious modelers, I think we can wait.

Interesting.  The drivers/axles look a bit like Kato's FEF drivers.   :)
Joe, if you look through the paperwork included in the box is there an exploded view diagram of the loco?  Examining that might give you some clues as to how the shell can be removed (plus it might show how the motor is installed).  Maybe just scan or take a photo of the diagram and post it here?  That will be less risky than taking the model apart.  ;)

Yes, can photo exploded views. There are one for loco, and one for tender.
Stay tuned, same Bat channel, same Bat time, later today. ;)

It won't be for quite a while- ill be waiting for the heavily discounted units, or ones nobody wants...  Methinks you will be waiting for an E6 about as long as we waited for this model.  There is no economy of scale for Bachmann to use this model as a springboard for an E6, except for the drivers, running gear, slat pilot, pilot and trailing truck.   None of the rest of the expensive tooled parts could be used, but you never know.
