Want to my 2 cents in before THIS thread gets locked, too.

I have a couple of Trix K4s. Although some of the details leave something to be desired, both run really well, (guess I was lucky twice) and are among my favorites.

Having said that, I am really looking forward to this new Bachmann release. I have a couple of their Consols: both run really well (guess I was lucky twice) and are among my favorites.

Am hoping for the same with the K4; I'm glad someone has finally stepped up and will be making one that looks good, too.

Ok, lock away.....

Thanks Mike, for posting those.

They all look great; think I'll opt for the Pre-War, "simplified" paint scheme version....

I purposefully avoided responding to the first K4 thread about different modelers' perceived views of Bachmann, but, now, I can't resist.  Just today, I received my Bachmann N scale 2-10-2 from TrainWorld.  It far surpasses what I expected.  Spookshow gave it an A on his website, so I had hope that the steamer I bought wasn't a steaming pile.  It wasn't; it runs smoothly out of the box without any modifications to the CVs (according to reviews on the internet, I can change CV2 and get the starting speed down to creeping).  The working factory reverse light on the tender was a pleasant surprise.  I got this locomotive on sale for $99.00 with DCC installed.  It's well worth much more than that price.  One day, I'll look into adding sound.

Is it perfect?  No, like many N scale locomotives, I need to check the wheel gauge, because I'm getting some "hopping" through some Atlas code 55 turnouts.  No surprise there, but I have gotten zero derailments that weren't caused by operator trouble.  It also has no problems with my sharp radius curves down to 11"!  The point of my post is to state that there should be no basis for slamming Bachmann of the K4's quality based on one video likely filmed by non-SPFs.  If it is of the quality of my 2-10-2, then Pennsy fans should be satisfied.

So, all I ask is for everyone to please settle down until the K4 is in hand.  The whistle can probably be dealt with by changing the CV to go to another whistle sound or replacing the decoder.  Let's move on and stop generalizing and stereotyping until the K4 is here.

Or, as I like to say in court: "Objection!  Speculation."  Or, "Objection!  Facts not in evidence."

NICE PHOTOS!!!!

thanks Delamaize.

k. the tendertrucks look like b-mann is modeling Kiesel trucks.
I'll bet they will have a hard time keeping them in stock.

I am thinking a lot of things from those photos and they answer a lot of my questions.

again thanks for the photos.

Sigh . . . these are very nice looking.

And who can know for sure whether the NKP might have borrowed a couple of K4's to run a passenger train out of Chicago, handing them back to the Pennsy at Bellevue . . .

Plus, I'm just a sucker for steam.  So I guess I'll have to get at least one, which will probably mean two . . . At least I'll be able to see what kind of sound system I can cram into the tender!

Relax, that post popped up while I was uploading pictures and video and typing my previous post.

I agree that the pics look good.  I especially like the pinstriping on the counterbalances.

Hi davefoxx,

you may have misunderstood my question.....

am I allowed to make comments which could be considered on the slightly negative side
with the photos as evidence to back-up those same comments?

hohohohohohohohohohoho.

on the more important aspect of all this,
has anyone seen one for sale yet?

Victor,

Specifics to the model, sure...  Now that I see them I'm generally really pleased!  The height of the sandbox was noted as being too high, and I will agree with that.  It's pretty noticable.  But I'm impressed with the detail, the contour of the Belpaire (which is easy to get wrong) and the overall "K4yness" of them.  Now that I see a better picture of the striped wheels, they look less like rust and more like stripes.  The downside is that in N scale that stripe is essentially the width of the spoke.  I wonder if these are pad-printed or painted inserts.

Hi Dave,

the photos are reasonably clear and are a little better detailed than the advertisement.
I really can't add anything to my past comments.

I was mostly teasing davefoxx, and indirectly I figured you as well.

until we know what price is to be paid, and locos in hand, there is not much to do
'cept to look at old photos and await the models.

I think the tender rides high on this model.  and the paint is the wrong shade of DGLE.

Okay so the Bachman reps are no where to be found right now. Appears like they set up and left. So I took it upon myself to get some more shots.

Please excuse my bad pictures the camera on my cell phone, is pretty good but it's no high quality unit.
