It's another type of auto rack. I believe it's the Auto-Max and it's articulated. It's even available in N scale.

Or if you are a complete effing moron, you think it's a FEMA Prison camp car.
Yes, people that believe this are out there, and the vote, and breed.

And just when I was trying to forget this.   You wouldn't believe the number of times I've been told this track side or at shows.  99% of the time by folks who walk up and "inform" me without my asking to be "informed".  I just sit in my camp chair and act as if they aren't there.  Which is a bit ironic, isn't it???

Ah yes, the FEMA-MAX.
Maybe it's the circles I run in but I haven't had anyone seriously try to tell me that.

Thanks for the link - it references November 1999 - should be December 1999.

Kind of a running joke with the rail fans I know to call them FEMA cars.  Earlier in the year a young family was standing trackside with their young son and asked me what type of cars (regular autoracks) they were.  They though they were hauling livestock.  Goes to show you the average person does not know much about todays railroads.

My wife and I joke about them being FEMA "Death Camp" Cars. If you read some of the stuff out there on the interwebs, these cars are being stored on remote tracks, are 40ft cars and all made in China...
