That's a beauty, Brian. Instantly calls to mind many similar buildings I've seen scattered around here over the years, some of them still standing. Looks like you absolutely nailed the look of the shingles.

Spring Creek Model Trains commissioned Bluford to run a Nebraska Central Caboose.
I took it a step further by adding True-Scale couplers, cut levers, a crew, and operational marker lights.

Here is one that is pretty much scratch built to modify a kit that makes it mostly unrecognizable.
The dock portion is entirely built from scratch.

What did you use for the shake shingle siding on the Micro Trains Cannery kitbash?

@johnb - No, not really.  This type of building was pretty common in small towns in the Pacific NW where I live.
I really couldn't find anything even remotely similar to what I was looking for commercially.
So, I looked for a method to build one and began with three (#2517) Tichy HO Scale windows as the large windows for the front and just built everything else off of those from desire and memory.

I don't know if this counts but a friend of mine sprayed the black (he was re-teaching me how to airbrush) and then I did the decals and hand painted the railings.

Two more GP18's join the fleet.
These two were the first of the GP18's to join the roster, but it wasn't till now that I got around to weathering them.

Again as I did with #1351 I replaced the factory LifeLike DCC ready chassis Atlas DCC ready chassis. I only had to add a few detail parts to bring them close to the prototype. It's tough finding good shots of Rock Island locos at times, but I did manage to find a couple that told the story.

The 1343 wound getting a pair of flared spark arrestors and five chime horn and firecracker antenna.
The 1346 only got the five chime horn and the firecracker antenna.

Both of these came factory painted in the 70's Red and Yellow speed lettering. The trucks and fuel tanks were also painted gray as per the prototype, but the gray was waaaaay too light.

Cuurent state of a weathered up ex-EMDX SD60. I think it is still in progess, maybe a patch job for another lessor. Needs a new horn, too...

They look nice, dry and dusty.

Allen, nice work on the geeps. Good looking fade and the lettering wear with the louvers showing though is top notch.

G'day Allen. Sorry for the late response as we have finally moved into our new house over Xmas and have had no internet.
I used Toms suggestion from way back and gave this and some of the other locos a spray of diluted "Golden Titan Buff". #2370-1/Series 1.
Then the darker spots are my Tamiya panel line paints used ever so sparingly, brown and black.
Your two locos look sharp.
