Dumbasses having a bidding war over a release worth a max of 500.00 on a good auction day.Testosterone wins again, as does the seller.

No modeling lately but I managed to get this done:

I added MTL express trucks with FVM metal wheel sets and Z scale body mount couplers.

Dang that's a nice looking car. It almost makes me want to model CN. Who made that?

I also installed my Bluford corn this week.  It is a great product but as it comes from the box it is too neon green and spaced too far apart for Illinois corn.  I painted the base of each row with burnt umber craft paint.  I got to where I could paint a piece in 45 seconds--there were a lot of rows to practice on.

I solved the spacing problem and doubled the density by staggering each piece so the only two of the locating pins go into two of the three locating holes on each piece.  I had to cut off one cornstalk from every other piece.  Since they are not aligned as they were designed to align I held them in place with GOO :D  I painted 1,035 tassels with straw colored paint and misted on Model Master Olive Drab to tone down the shine.

But Southern Illinois is still Illinois!  The Bluford Corn was designed based on the cornfield across the street from their world headquarters, so it's not too far apart for *all* IL corn... but I can see how you'd want more density when just using a few strips in front of a backdrop.  Looking good!

I thought about painting the bases, but instead spread AZ Rock and Mineral "dirt" over the planted field to cover the green.  It was pretty easy to brush from the stalks after sprinkling, and glued down well.

Mike -
Nice attention to detail on the outside stalks being a little sun baked and/or under watered.
