I assume that you mean cars in addition to the ones Skytop Models offer...

For a B60 go HERE.  Already have a great model of the R50b... just have to jump on the wagon when GHQ announces a new run!!!

Heck, why not ask for a Brill, GE-Wason or McKeen motor car... can't get more head-end than that!!!

Yeah, but those are too steep for cars with no trucks wheels or couplers. For me. I wish MTL brang the B60 out as their next HW design.

Steam Generator cars..... knew someone would bring these up.... here's a manufacturer's question;

We make an HO scale steam generator car that actually steams; it's a CN prototype and it's very popular having sold out three offerings. Only the CN and ONR versions are prototypical yet many other roads sell like hotcakes.

If offered in N scale, and without the steamy effects (cause that just ain't going to happen) would it sell like the HO version...? Is it so unique that many would overlook the prototypical failings for their road and invest in one....

It's a big question we've asked ourselves and never been able to come to a conclusion..... now maybe this group of prototype focused modellers isn;t the target audience but I'd like feedback anyway.
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

If it weren't for the upcoming signature-NH PBLWs from Rapido, I would beat the drum for New Haven head-end equipment.  But as it is, I have a pair of turtleback baggages already, and I can 'bash most of the other prominent NH head-end equipment from existing MTL and WOT models.

It would be nice to see the ATSF 99-110 fluted Budd RPOs, as NH leased a handful from ATSF when they had an equipment shortage.

I understand what you are saying but for me it is worth it.  To have an accurate B60B or variant there of (I need one or more for N&W which means getting the rectangular window car and cutting two additional windows into the doors) the cost to me is within range.  Its fair to say that all of us can say that we wished MT would have picked a prototype that we are interested in... the problem is that they didn't so it boils down to whether or not we really want it or not... and go from there.  Its like a couple of heavy electric locomotives that Bryan B. and I are interested in... it may take the rest of my life but I want them, even if it will take a small fortune to do... and there are other passenger cars I will yet make the same decision about... because they are just that important to me.

Branchline?  No, not so much... that is a baggage - smoker - coach that saw use on the head-end of trains like The Pocahontas, The Cavalier and The Birmingham Special, especially after the 1957 sale of BPf Bethlehem Steel baggage - smoker - coaches.  N&W uses their 15' mail apartment BMg and BMh baggage - mail and segregated coaches as well as the baggage - segregated baggage - coaches rblt. from Plan 2416 parlor cars (later converted to MS1 mail storage cars) on branchline and mixed train service.

Ok thanks, maybe it wasnt this combine but I have plenty of pics of combines on the Huckleberry and on the Virginia Creeper for sure.

Mike, I have one of your CN steam generator cars in HO and it looks great. I don't often run it generating steam so an N scale version would be welcome. Just like sound in a locomotive, the beauty of it is you can turn it off!
As I run a lot of transition era passenger trains for different roads in N scale, I would certainly buy multi road names.

I'm sure modellers in N scale would appreciate any head end car that could have run with a passenger train.

I am interested in a B60 as well. If ever there were a passenger car that I would want from MT, that is the one, well, after a single window coach, that is!

The cost of the Shapeways(FXD) car, plus trucks and couplers, then paint and decals is approaching 100$...So, yea, if I'm being wishful, I wish for an MT B60....Their passenger cars are one of the best deals going in N scale these days, IMHO...Now if only they knew about the B&M and MEC....foobies or not.....

I won't chime in on the Steam Generator car except to say, without the gimmick it seems less cool....

Refreshing this post to echo the drum beat for more 60' hvywt baggage cars. I need an easy dozen.

Would take half in AT&SF clerestory, fishbelly & sill, and the rest with Espee-ish Harriman/Arch roof (SD&A dress please!)  Meanwhile, you'll find me trolling fleabay to join the bidding wars for the few used WOT versions that come up time to time, often selling more than their MSRP when brand new.

I'd like to see some wooden ( baggage) cars with truss rods. They lasted forever , some well into the 50s-60s.

I've noted that since this thread began, we have seen several new cars announced- MT and WoT have horse cars coming, a CN baggage from Rapido that will also make a good stand in for baggage cars for several roads, and Bill Denton at Skytop has a 60' baggage express that I think is "generic" but close for NYC 60' cars, and would also represent many that were rebuilt by various roads from old RPOs.

The wooden car idea is also a good one.  In my HO days 4 decades ago, I detailed several of the old Roundhouse 1905 era kits, and in N have a half assembled RPO from a brass/wood kit.  Early 20th century wood cars are a missing genre in N scale.  Even in the 1950s, you might find some on branch lines here and there.  Monon, as I recall, had some truss rod coaches in mainline passenger service right up to the introduction of their rebuilt hospital cars in the late 40s.  And as Randy Stahl points out, many railroads kept some wood baggage cars in service until the 60s.  And wood passenger and baggage cars were very common in MoW service- elegant diner with arched transoms, stained glass removed and painted gray.  Would also make good candidates for various kitbashes- many were steel plated in later life, and/or had underframes replaced or reinforced with steel.

I think I am going to stop making suggestions- with what has been announced already, my wallet will be feeling enough pain- I figure a couple more MT baggage cars, at least 2 more MT mail baggage, 1 or 2 MT horse cars, probably 2 or 3 head end shells of various types from Skytop (when I get some space on my workbench), a couple of the Rapido baggage cars, some of the L&N rebuilt coach sides from BCS if we can talk Dennis into doing them in N, 2 sets of sides for Tribe sleepers whenever Roberto finds the time, and another B60 when Hell Gate does another run.  And then there are upcoming locomotive releases and whatnot to suck up any portion of my paycheck that might remain.
Tom D.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

I have a Canadian Pacific 60' wood baggage/express car available through Central Hobbies. An image can be found on Spookshow's Geoff Gooderham CP passenger cars page... It's a mostly assembled resin kit so it needs paint and a few details.
