Well there goes @davefoxx 's locomotive budget!  Still no KCS Ghosts, however, so my Wallet is safe . . .

I think I understood IM’s business model as announcements of new road names are free, they just only end up producing the ones that cross a certain threshold of pre-orders.

Anyone know the story on the N Evans Coil Cars? The latest run announced a year-plus ago is now TBD and now this announcement shows HO-only.

@Philip H,

Haha!  I saw that, too.  You're probably right.

But, on the bright side:
(1) This announcement for the Seaboard System SD40-2s saves me from purchasing (maybe) the previously announced Seaboard Coast Line units, and
(2) I might have recovered from the Atlas releases by the time these locomotives see the light of day.

Nice they're planning the mid-production "genuine" UP version (previous announcements were ex-CNW), but I won't get excited until they announce proper early UP: 3123-3242, 3243-3287 (snoots) and/or 8003-8045 (snoots).

Less than excited with these with a $45.00 MSR. There are some road names I like but not at that price point. Will still be $36.00 at Klien's discount price.

So for the over 400 or so CSX SD40-2 they pick ex-Con repaint road number for both CSX color scheme. Wallet is safe.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

52 paints schemes and nothing on the street yet   I hope IM hits these out of the park.

It's all vaporware until they get the first run into shops.

Bingo! I know they want pre-orders to justify production run sizes, but they need to street the first run soon or Kato may do another one.

That's because Red Caboose N scale products are now owned by Fox Valley Models.

This is the 3rd or 4th straight month with no new N scale releases. Guess we're 3rd class to them.

I have a couple of problems with IM's reservation system:

1) My LHS doesn't take reservations.  This has never been a problem for me, to date, to get the models that I must have, as I place an order immediately upon the LHS's acknowledgement of the items being in stock.  Now, I could place a reservation with another LHS, sure, but that doesn't solve Problem #2 (see below).  I also doubt that my reservation is really going to make a difference as to whether the Seaboard System SD40-2s are actually produced.  There's either going to be enough interest from the masses or there isn't.

2) More importantly, I haven't seen anything other than an unpainted preproduction model, which, admittedly, didn't look bad.  But, I have no idea how it runs or how well IM will do on the decoration.  I have a Seaboard System SD45-2 that they completely missed on the paint (I'm still looking for a Seaboard Coast Line shell to remedy this).  If the Seaboard System SD40-2 is painted to match the SD45-2, I'll pass.  But, how am I going to know until they're produced?  What if I really don't like it?  Am I stuck with it?  Does the hobby shop get stuck with this problem by customers?

Yeah sorry I knew that. I hope FVM does the coil cars eventually.
