The law of model railway custom work is intact.... I did this a few month ago..... and "voila" MTL introduces.....

Nothing for me, as usual.  The CN mail-baggage is the only MTL car I've bought in the last three years.

Same here.  The only MTL car that I've bought in recent years is a B&O heavyweight observation car that I didn't really need.  I believe that MTL is doing a really nice job on these heavyweight passenger cars, but they're ignoring the southeastern U.S. roads.   :x

Yeah, nothing for me either.   For the first time in forever though, I did buy one of the SCMX tank cars last month since they wisely chose to leave off the conspic striping.

Yes, and it's becoming less frequent.   The unprototypical garish graffiti on 60's boxcars and now the tendency toward the "popular tags" like the Hand of God just isn't my thing.  Which is ok I certainly don't need an excuse to spend more money.

I will say I really love the SCMX tank car though, looks great.

I can't even remember the last MTL freight car I bought.  I think it was the black SHPX triple-dome tank.  I didn't even purchase the last three New Haven releases because they weren't prototypical.  And the only reasons I picked up the CN baggage-mail is because the model is very close to the CN prototype, and it is conceivable that a CN baggage-mail passed through New Haven CT en route to New York at some point during the 1950s.  But to be fair, I would have picked up the Erie baggage if the paint scheme wasn't pre-1920, and I would have picked up the Burlington baggage-mail if I could have justified its presence in New England.

And while the graffiti in general is a turn-off for me, these "designer-graffiti" releases of recent months have absolutely no appeal to me — particularly items that start blurring the lines of church and state.  I'll admit that the rust-encrusted Reading and Illinois Central Gulf boxcars are appealing, but I would only consider buying such models if the bodystyle was prototypically accurate in general, let alone prototypical for the railroad.  So that limits things extremely regarding which MTL releases I would buy.

Don't you mean Church and Model Railroading. I'm sure MTL pays taxes, but that's about as far as I'd go as comparing them 'State"; unless we were forced to by their products.

Maybe we should sent a memo to the graffiti artists to keep it secular from now on. I personally don't care much for the graffiti cars, but the graffiti is prototypical even if the cars aren't.  :trollface:

That's true; given the fact that a lot of the old Atlas, Bachmann (and the like) cars are often listed in eb*y for close to $20 a pop...
