So for a week now down in the basement I have various tubs with different shades of super leaves. One box of super trees open with some branches separated, another box sits nearby waiting. Two tall cans of Aqua net hairspray on the ready.

Why can't I build a damn tree?

It's like a mental thing with the mind...

And here I was opening this thread expecting to see trees so realistic the squirrels got confused and the beavers chewed em down.

Make a few test shots and let them dry.  Then see what you would do differently on the next batch.  Nobody says the first one has to be a contest winner.

Given that trees are the penultimate scenery item, making them means finishing a layout. Since you have so many layouts going it might be tough to be ready to finish one.

I think you're starting with the wrong materials, and those are what is creating a mental block.  Try the wire armature method, and build what you see in photos (as opposed to using the Pseudo Super Trees as the starting point).

So do you guys use hairspary or matte medium on your trees?

Maybe I'll move out to the garage where I'm not tripping over layouts  :P

When I did leaves, either hairspray or spray glue, but I think it was always hairspray.

The good (bad) aqua net stuff. From what I remember, the cheaper the better.

Then again, I haven't put leaves on a tree in 10 years.

They're ok, but the trunk to branch size ratio only works for sapling size trees.
