Walthers/Life Like N scale 0-8-0

My 0-8-0 was running as well as it can until it suddenly stopped.  I discovered that there are 4 wires leading from the back of the locomotive to the tender.  One of those 4, an end one, pulled out and I'm not having any luck in re-inserting it in its harness.  Has anyone else had this problem--and solved it?

I had this problem with one.  I have yet to fix it.  Ebit did something with his that involved totally replacing that four prong plug.

One of the reasons that I insist that the WKW USRA 0-8-0 is HOON-kay is that the plug to which you refer is so delicate.

hI carmelmodelrr,

I suspect you will need a soldering Iron to fix this.

can you take a picture?

there are some electrical disconnects that can be re-installed
and most of those work loose again anyway.

you are onto one of the reasons I growl at the 0-8-0 by walthers.

when I like it, it is made by life-like....

can you get it open?
I have not opened mine yet so I can't state how to.
I hear there are ashpan issues involved.

If you are able, I recommend replacing the disconnect.

I have two of those.  It's a wire female plug on the end of the wires coming from the engine.
There are 6 wires, not 4.
The wires each are soldered to a female metal tube-shaped piece that is inserted into the 6-hole connector
shell.

I had one or two of these break off from that connector back in the day when I was working on
remotoring and improving these engines.  I had to push the tube shaped piece out of the connector
shell with a very small jewelers screwdriver, then solder it back on to the wire, then reinsert the tube into
the connector.  It can be done, but it does require delicate soldering.

Eventually, since I don't use DCC, I said "heck with this", rewired the insides of the engine to only use
2 wires, and ran them direct back to the tender and got rid of the harness and connector.
