...but the the "Indian" car I want and need is the original 24 duplex roomette, with its unique staggered windows.

Depending on how much work you want to put into such a model there are options.  Union Station Products offers a craftsman level kit for this type of car and M&R Models offers etched sides while a Shapeways print is available from N3DPM.  There really is a lot of possibilities for one who is not turned away from a challenge but something like the USP sides are not for the faint of heart.  For any wanting to know how much can be done visit the N-scale Varnish User's Guide website... you will be surprised at what now can be done.

Good point Jerry, and I have a bunch of Roberto's (and Union Station) kits, in various stages of completion. But, it's hard to compete with Kato crispness and quality and close to impossible to match the finishes, especially on stainless cars (see my "Indian" effort below). I would also love to buy a few "Pine" cars, but apparently they will only come as an add-on set paired with a rebuilt, 11 bedroom post '64 "Indian".
Looks like I will have some rebuilt "Indians" for sale... :|
Kind regards,

LOL Nate, if this was a reply to my post, you did it again.  There is no "C" in in Amtrak or Amquak, but you keep throwing one in there.  Are you sure it was going to be RAIL PAX not RAIL PAC:D

Yes, it was "Railpax", one word, with an "X".  And I've seen a lot of "Amtrack", including numerous news articles, over the years, so it isn't an uncommon (mis)spelling.

I was just giving Nate hard time since he likes to add that "c" in there.  I would expect misspelled Amtrak in news articles written by non-railfans (as most reporters and even editors are): especially since train-travel is not very common nowadays.   But here we have bunch of model railroaders and railfans - the correct spelling of Amtrak should not be a problem.  Even the auto-spell checker (which is pretty much everywhere nowadays) marks Amtrack as misspelled.

I realize Nate is being funny, but he could also be just as funny if the "c" was skipped.  Actually, IMO "Amquak" would be even funnier than "Amquack"

I've heard of Railpax, which you know would have been played out as Railpox by the critics.  Thank God they decided on a different name.

I'm excited about the Pine-series cars as well (I can set aside my set of Kato CB&Q prototypes that were to become de-skirted 'Pine' cars)...and I could also use the pre-modified duplex sleepers...
Roberto is almost impossible to get ahold of these days, so I'm not too sure that M&R sides is a viable source for sides any longer...
It's a pity, as his product is, simply, outstanding...

Since Kato is actually releasing this car, I'm hoping that it will be available in actual Santa Fe livery at some poinr.

Kato 15 car Orient Express set made for German market.  Now that's some new tooling. (Attachment Link)

That is a superb set!  Details and paint job are outstanding.  They even correctly modeled slightly different roofs (where they could have just made a single part and used it on several cars). But it is not really new. The original set was released several years ago and it depicted that same train when it traveled across Japan (after being ferried there).  In this set they just replaced the Japanese prototype trucks with the European style trucks and slightly changed the consist (added couple of cars).

The set in your photo shows is the European set but in Japanese packaging.  The "real" European release of that set (Sold by Hobbytrain/Lemke) came in fancy dark blue book-style cases and a double-wide sleeve with heat-stamped gold lettering.  I have both sets and they are gorgeous!
