So pretty much just the locomotives this round then. Maybe we might get something with the Phase III set, but that more likely to be Superliners in Phase III I'm sure.

I'm really surprised we didn't end up with Phase II Superliners with these, and a possibly Phase II F40PH. That's too bad, maybe one day.

I wonder if we will see this in a future run

That's what I'm hoping for as well. Then to pair it with the Kato NS SD40-2 version. I think they would be crazy not to, but that's my opinion.

Sweet I'm super excited!!  :D

peteski what do you have in terms of FP45s?
I'm kinda looking for newer SF or freight bonnet...

I have one undecorated ATSF body (Item # 16808) copyright 2008 (probably their initial run), and a factory sound equipped ATSF red warbonnet unit (Item # 22478) copyright 2013 (I think that was the latest run).  But I think I'll hang onto them until I have the Kato unit in hand.

It'll be interesting to see if the frame has any notches out of it in the nose.

Man, I didn't need another another loco that I 'need'.

I'll have to buy at least a pair of the Phase Is.  As for what to pull with them, just about any pre-1970s US streamlined car you want, except Alaska RR, Southern and D&RGW.  Did any other major roads stay out of Amtrak?

Unless you want to model a particular train, just grab your favorite cars and go!

I figured as much, let me know about the painted SF unit (22478) when and if the Kato ones are made, id be happy to buy one.  :D

Kato seems to have found their bread and butter: Amtrak. No one makes anything for them and they are seen everywhere. I suspect they will start filling in the holes sooner than later. I garentee they will produce the next Acela alongside the prototype's introduction. Just wish they would hurry along the AEM-7 and Horizon cars.

Isn't the light between the number boards only used in emergencies?  I wonder why it is illuminated on that locomotive?

Mars light. Red emergency light is below it in the same housing.

I'd love for Kato to make an EMD testing loco.

AFAIK the SDP40F hat two different noses.

Does anybody know which one Kato will be doing? Perhaps by deduction from the loco number?

BTW, totally GREAT news. El Capitan in Amtrak colors plus a bloody nose loco.  :)

The drawing on the BLW site show the earlier pointed nose, not the blunt nose.  Don't know how authoritative the drawings are.

I sincerely hope this is true. I'd love to see some toasters.

...and can someone explain to me how some little people flying over for tea relates to the SDP40F locomotive?   :|

Some good information about various versions of that loco are posted starting with my question here.
