That's an electric toaster I think.

No, I really meant one of these.

Mark5 was being sarcastic.

Kato has several models for NE Corridor already and the models already announced arriving later this year will also be appropriate for the theme.  IIRC the Swedish Meatball can be fairly easily built using an European loco chassis and a Shapeways or resin cast body.

Yeah Pete's right, I was being sarcastic. 8)

I actually wish more peeps did model Amtrak NE Corridor. This is a self serving desire as maybe then we'd get proper N&W/NS/Amtrak NE corridor CPL signal targets.

My bad Mark, text is difficult to convey emotions or expressions, especially on the readers end... Lol
But I think we can all agree that the AEM-7 is the K4 to us Amtrak nuts. Lol.

NE Corridor  = Yawn.
AMTRAK       = YAWN,
Electric toasters, yawn!

I'm wondering if some screwball, PRR hating Congressional aide didn't sneak language into a bill  forbidding the sale of an N scale K4 model.

Has Kato ever re-run their first N scale locomotive? I'm not talking about locomotives they created for Atlas, I'm talking about their GP38-2?

I'd love to model the NEC, but the practicality of it is a nightmare. Every interlocking is 4 tracks, curves get huge, everything is just "big".

The best way to really make a go of it is to use a modular format (like NTRAK), but that makes doing other things about it (like catenary) difficult (but not impossible, see @Hiroe's bitchin work from 15 years ago).

That's usually an agency-level policy interpretation decision.  And the more I hear Pennsy fans whine, the more I want to help that decision along.  You guys have a K4 already, by Minitrix... Next!

One idea - model one place like Baltimore - tunnels on either side to hidden staging,  the station is available as a kit, etc....

... k.... and in that same time frame.
which gp-9 do you feel was the biggest improvement?
(pick damned near any diesel for that question...)

how about an Kato's GG1?

lets be clear here, there are a few locos that were well done and had competing versions
where I saw little improvement.

the PRR K4s has a brass version as well.

so the K4 question is a sore point.
what the average PRR modeler needs is and h-something.

... I really don't see that happening.

here is the real problem.
n-scale does not need another challenger, big-boy, 4-8-4, FEF or any other 4-8-4.
and god help us how many BERKs do we need?

you could make a case that all those locos needed a facelift....
BUUUUUT.... that reason simply justifies a new PRR K4s.

you want true whinging listen close...
can I please get an n-scale loco that is not a kit of one sort or another?
can my biggest headache be that I have to clean the tender wheels to get the pick-ups to work?
(like the recent Atlas S2)

howabout a pacific that has modern n-scale pick-ups?
any chance for yet  another berk that does not need a DCC guru and has a good pick-up system?

Kato is not going to do a PRR k4 next.
I can hope they make more steam because they are good at it.

I still think their Mikado is one of the best steam engines available.

a matching Pacific would be nice.

A thread on TB suggest that page 27 of the October MR has info regarding someone doing a K4.

I can only true so I can quit having to read about it.

Victor, don't burst a vein, man.  If it were up to me I'd argue for a new and improved (GN) S2 or a Little Joe before a Kwhatever.  Everyone wants what everyone wants, and I don't want/need a K4, so I'm gonna yank the SPFs' chain because they just keep wanting and wanting and wanting despite everything they DO have.  Reminds me of my two-year-old.  I find it laughablely ironic that SPFs want a Pacific so bad when the PRR never got remotely close to that ocean.  SPFs get plenty, be happy, take a pill, let others have a turn.

And who on earth whined about cleaning the tender wheels on an Atlas S2?  That's just absurd...

Apparently, Bachmann's new loco is, indeed, a K4...so...Railwire's volume will now be cut by 1/2

No, if Bachmann was to announce that most elusive of steamers, the almighty PRR K4 it would send half of Railwire into ABB fever...... :scared:

(ABB = Anybody but Bachmann) :D
