What am I missing here? Kato did a GS-4...Since we're on the subject of 4-8-4's, how about either the Four Aces, (which could be modified, I'm sure, to resemble some roads such as Rock Island's "R" (?) class, the largest fleet of Northerns in the US), or how about the C&NW class H. Just spit-balling here...Mark in Oregon
I guess the SD28-2. HO tooling, and of course, I kit bashed a few SD40-2 shells to paint into IHB recently.....
Why not a Hudson?....But . . . not likely, given that they are already committed to a new run of the FEF. It seems as though Kato is a "one steamer at a time" kind of player. And it's not a Western prototype. Still . . . John C.
Oh...do we know Kato is committed to a new run of the FEF? Did I miss something?Otto K.
Kato page: https://www.katousa.com/N/FEF/index.htmlScroll down and the items say "Restocking October 2015"Or a PDF for the ad http://www.katousa.com/cgi-bin/dl/dl.pl?dl.mif,06-01-15.pdfPretty much confirms, no?
SDP45? We need an SDP40F. That would fit into all that Amtrak stuff they have, e.g. the Amtrak El Capitan. They don't have a loco to pull their Amtrak El Capitan....Javier
Thing I find odd for them doing an SDP45 is that they already have the majority of the parts to do an SDP40.Take the SD40/45 frame, SD45 sill and handrails, and cab from the SD40, all you need to do is tool up a hood.
You can't use the SD40/45 frame for a SDP45 - the frame is longer on the SDP45. The frame might be the same one that EMD used for the SD40T-2 and SD45T-2.But yeah, they could do the SDP40 (in theory).
