SDP45 = 9 schemes, SDP40 = 13

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Steam currently running around, SOU 630, SOU 4501, NKP 730. Any could be done and have a consist sold with it.

Are you including the SD45M's in that?

Umm, given the investment in existing tooling, why wouldn't Kato do an original, pre-excursion version of the FEF-3 (or-2)? There were a lot more of those, in at least three paint schemes, with or without elephant ears, and the two-tone gray is so photogenic (and would show detail so much better than an all black loco). All it would take to backdate it is minor modifications to the front end and top of the tender...
Athearn did them in the "other" scale...although I'm not sure they bothered backdating the shells  :?

When I worked for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, we would start rumors that we wanted to be true.  So how about the Mike being re-released with a vandy tender? And flying pumps?  As someone else has said, one can dream!

Well, we have all danced around the real possibility. Some would say that KATO tends to favor the western roads. They just had a major hit with the FEF and, so far, the mechanism appears to be pretty solid. So, a new re-tooled engine ? They will do an SP GS locomotive of some type, possibly a GS-4. Well heck, I can dream can't I? A new  GS-4 in Daylight would sell as well as the FEF has done, up to this point. Personally, I would prefer a non-skirted GS-1.

Carl

it is a good idea and Kato may well do just that.

ummm, however, but, and....

If they start thinking down that path they are far more likely to build the NYCS niagara.
after that one, ANY big 4-8-4 is possible.

think they may do an EMD E3?

What am I missing here? Kato did a GS-4...

Since we're on the subject of 4-8-4's, how about either the Four Aces, (which could be modified, I'm sure, to resemble some roads such as Rock Island's "R" (?) class, the largest fleet of Northerns in the US), or how about the C&NW class H.

Just spit-balling here...

Oooh, I would take a 4 Aces too! The only 4-8-4 that ran regular service on the PRR.
