LCI were sold at surplus after the war. Somebody down New Orleans way bought one and it is docked right next to that riverboat that other guy is talking about turning into a casino.

At 1:163 scale this one is also close enough for N scale.

I'm pretty sure that they are the same kit, just repackaged. I never knew that Life-Like sold it.

I have been tempted the same way with the Robert E. Lee but my reasoning blocked the sale. I have converted several model ships and boats both military and civilian but that riverboat would be a challenge, stock or casino.

Large numbers of LCI' s ans LST's were built on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers during WW2. So if you model  that era, it would be possible. If you don't model that era, who cares. It's cool anyway.

Several were converted to potato barges on the Columbia River here in Oregon/Washington...also, a lot of Naval Reserve units had them well into the 60's for training and seamanship qualifications. So it would be at home on any waterfront here in the states at least through the early 60's.  Not to mention all the post war conversions that can be done on these.

If you are also looking for a paddle steamer Revell offered a 1/160 model of the Goethe which I am currently using as fodder for my M/S Mount Washington. here is mine under progress

Well, the original post was about a watercraft. And 8 posts in, you're still talking about watercraft. That's pretty damn good thread discipline around here.

^Good point... and as to the OP looking for a reason for it to be next to the paddle steamer (reading comprehension not strong on my end  ) simply make it a docked museum....Maybe the LCI is a floating WW2 museum.

Um, nowhere.  The closest I found are some 1:180 models of civilian Boeing 737s.  They are just basic representation of the airplane (no details, not even engraving of the panel lines or windows).

For full detail planes you have 1:144 and 1:200 (at least for civilian airliners). There are some 1:144 military planes available too.  I also seem to recall that Model Power had some supposedly 1:160 scale planes (like some WWII fighters), but I never actually seen them.

It's cool peteski, I was just being a troll.
But some one did make 1:160 WWII planes, I've got a P51 Mustang that I picked up at Hobby lobby. I'm not sure if it's exact but its close from what I am assuming.

Ugh.  Lindberg.  That steamboat model will probably make you lose you mind with fit and finish issues. 

As for 144th aircraft, it's a pretty popular size.  I used to build them back in high school, when shelf room in the bedroom was at a premium.  Minicraft has a good selection, some real odd balls as well.  There was a company that sold all sorts of kits back in the 90s that I would buy ($4) a kit that went together really well for the price.  It looks like those molds have been sold off to Revell and other.

J Wings, F-toys, or the various associated names has WW2 and Modern 1/144 aircraft.  They come already painted, with minor assembly and decals.  I picked up a pair of EC145s and an EH101 for Air Ambulance/Fire Rescue whenever I build a layout.  Also Battlefront Miniatures has recently released a set of Vietnam era pieces.  The boats are 1/100 but the aircraft are 1/144; UH-1 "slick"/gunship, OH-6, A-1E, and A-4, plus a couple Dassualt and a MiG17 for their Six Day War game (One of my other expensive hobbies).
