We have asked the factory to make a large supply of Hancock air whistles if they can do so without too much waste (it's on a mould with many other components) If they can then I'll have spares available but I, frankly, am not holding my breathe.... Chinese factories and random parts requests rarely go together....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Will the later versions like the phase 3 Amtrak include the HEP gear on the roof?

You can see part of the exhaust stack and muffler on the unit to the right.

Martin: We certainly haven't planned to do this but I will see if there might be room on a mould for the parts and have them as modeller applied in the baggie that comes with the model. - No promises but I'll investigate. Thanks for the idea.

Those are way awesome! I'm with Ed , don't need one, but man, so tempting. I so so so so want to have Rapido come out with something modern so I can give them a fist full of cash.

Given that I'm a New Haven modeler and that a) there are/have been four SD40-2 N scale models over the years, and b) there will be and have been a number of modern diesel power models released in recent years, I'm quite pleased that Rapido is throwing New Haven modelers a bone or two.   :D

Amen Brother, Amen.

So why exactly do you guys want an SD40-2??? I mean, there are plenty on mfgrs doing it already...

One mfgr released a recent run of mostly obscure Road names, and has since gone silent, the other has pushed back delivery by 1 yr so far and counting, other than that we are solid  on the dash 2 front :)

[Thread drift / off]

Again those F9’s are beautiful!

I believe I can state with some certainty that we will not be entering the SD40-2 Olympics.........Sorry to disappoint those who would support such a model.

Does that imply that Rapido Trains is into more obscure models not previously made by other (non-brass) manufacturers?  That would be nice!  :)

Not at all; our product focus is Canadian prototypes with a bent towards CN and a growing focus on North-eastern US prototypes. We have not yet ventured into much "modern" equipment but we never say never at Rapido.

Oddities neither attract us or disqualify a project.....

... and a growing focus on North-eastern US prototypes.

That gets my attention.

I also hope that your future diesel loco design follows the best current design practices (ie. low-friction Kato-style trucks).
