Can't tell you about the packaging as I didn't pull the trigger on any of these.  I will when brown paper bag versions start coming though.  All the same, most licensing agreements will assert that all marketing (such as the PDFs), including packaging, that mentions OP or any trademarked or copyrighted term, symbol, likeness, etc. should have a copyright or trademark symbol to indicate this association and the owner of the rights.

Judging by the PDF that announced the film trucks, I'd say they're not licensed or don't need to be.  Some would definitely be expired at this point, if ever licensed.  The Transformers one would be the most obvious and Pat doesn't make any claims of likeness (actually advertises it as a model of a Transformers image).  But note on the UPS announcement, there is an indication of UPS licensing.  I am pretty sure Pat's above board and wouldn't worry too much about it.

The packaging on the "movie" trucks is completely plain and devoid of any information except for the stock number and the description of the make of trucks and the length/type of trailer. There is even no mention of the model's "roadname".  :)

Brown paper bag wrapper, eh?  Sounds like porn.  Train porn.

The trucks were manufactured with the permission of PACCAR, the parent company that owns Peterbilt and Kenworth. As these are not replicas of movie trucks, but replicas of some PACCAR trucks, that is all the permission that was needed.

We are presuming these are movie trucks, they were never advertised, labeled or marketed as such.

Yes, but that's all a court would need, the normal person making the connection; no advertising needed.

I wonder why none of that is mentioned anywhere on the model or packaging.  Usually this type pf permission/licensing is prominently displayed (usually on the packaging).  Some companies (like Mercedes or Ferrari) actually provide holographic license labels to be affixed to the model's packaging. Not that I'm complaining mind you . . . just puzzled.
