New Trucks from Trainworx

Wardie:  I don't need nearly that many, but could use some of the 40 ft flatbeds myself.  Maybe if these sell well he will also make the fishbelly sidesill flats common in the Northwest and western Canada.  For some reason they never seem to be seen much east of the Rockies, at least n the US.  They were everywhere in Washington 40 to 50 years ago, and are still common.

For that matter, how about a Western Star tractor, for the Canadian/Northwest modelers?  They're common here in Appalachia now, but weren't so much 40 years ago.  That would be another one that could use the log truck parts.

Got my trucks yesterday and these trucks are second to none. Have read all the reviews on them and one detail that no one has mentioned is that the tandems on the 53' trailers are able to be repositioned. Pat hit it out of the park with this one. already have "Bull Racks" reserved. Been talking with him about some other stuff that might be cool for him to do.

Oh yeah, that too.  I didn't mentipned it because I can't get my eyes off the tractors.  The trailers seem so insignificant.  I know that MT trailers also have repositionable tandems.

Using a couple of the suspensions to kitbash a tridem was discussed at the Trainworx table with a Canadian customer.  I have done it Deluxe suspensions, and the Trainworx suspensions should work as well.

Incidentally, the Trainworx tables and the N Scale Vehicle Association's tables were back to back at the Swap-A-Rama/public show.  We had a great time, and there was far more interest in N scale vehicles at this convention than any of the previous 10 I have attended.

  Well, the Duel Truck arrived today, amazing what's become possible in our little scale

This is some pretty picky stuff I'm about to get in to here, but hey, 

Looks like the antennas on the mirrors of the Duel truck should be removed. They were not present in the movie.
There was also a swamp cooler on the back of the cab. Oh, and the bumpers, too. Code 40 rail seems too large. Is there anything smaller?

So...how do you get the hood to flip down without breaking the thing?  I'm really afraid to force it.

Since I'm not using mine as the Duel truck, none of the discrepancies juxtaposed with the movie bother me.

They easily tilt forward.  No forcing required.

The hood on the Peterbilt 281/351 (Duel truck) does not tilt.  Those trucks had "butterfly" hinges along the centerline of the hood. 

Also, the hood on my Peterbilt 379 did not want to tilt, so I did not force it.  The cab on the K100 tilted when I first took it out of the box, and I was afraid I had broken it!   

However, once I saw the engine, I figured it was supposed to tilt, and then I remembered Pat writing in an email, "wait until you look under the hoods."

Thank you Trainworx for some great looking movie trucks. These things sold out like hot cakes, hopefully there is another run works? Maybe with the addition of the GMC General from the second Smokey and the Bandit? The only major errors I see with the above two Kenworths, the quarter fenders and mud flaps should attach to the side of the truck frames, not the top.

I gotta say that these trucks look truly outstanding.  I haven't had one in hand yet (but plan to soon) but from the photos, it looks like Trainworx has really set the bar high.  It is pretty amazing how technology has advanced in the last few years to allow this kind of attention to detail and in production models no less.. My hat is off to Trainworx....great worx..!
