Daniel, how and where did you order them? And I thought the availability of MT's SP SW1500's was under the radar! :P

They are available now. I ordered the entire group. They said they will not be offering undec parts, but will offer painted parts you can assemble yourself. Many more proto schemes to come!

Great!  Thanks for telling us where you got them!     :P

That's a White or an Autocar.

Yes, a late 70's White-Western Star 4800 in fact...

I sent an email to my favorite hobby shop asking him to order me one.
Seemed to work for me...  :D

My favorite local hobby shop (Ken's Trains) is long gone.  I now order online (mostly BLW and MBK). I suppose I could email Pete at BLW.  But by the time he gets to it, the trucks will probably be sold out.  As far as MBK goes, since they no longer have a simple email contact (you have to set up special account independent from the regular ordering account) I don't even bother.  It makes no sense!

Again, I'm surprised that Tranworx has no mention of this on their site. It is like it is a stealth offering for the selected few.  Almost something I would expect from the N Scale Collector Enthusiast.

I ordered direct by calling the number on Trainworx website. Talked to them for a but while I ran outside to get my wallet in the car.

Though not perfect, they could just add a White Western Star grill to the front of the PB/KenW cab. No one would look past the clown face, I sware!

Excellent - thanks!  Funny, I checked the BLW NEW page couple of hours earlier and those weren't listed.  He must have just posted them!  The price is more palatable too!  :)

Happy to help. I think you're right - I'd looked earlier and then drifted back just after he posted them.  Total opposite of my usual luck...

Best, Harry

This has to be one of the coolest releases in N scale ever! I had planned on creating little movie reference scenes on my layout at some point and even bought a Pewter kit to try to bash into a Duel truck, so this will be great! Now we just need the cars to go with them (BTJ's Texas Gumball, Red Valiant, in addition to the Trans Am). Would definitely have to get the truck from Maximum Overdrive too, if they ever came out with that one. "Who Made Who?" :D

I was just thinking of all those killer truck movies: Joy Ride, Road Kill, The Hitcher etc. This series could go on forever!

I would love this:

Bonus points to anyone who can figure out what movie without looking at the URL.

This one has been on my bench for a while:

Its stock enough to blend in, but fans will get the reference (especially if I "forget" to paint the GHQ driver).

Russ,

I agree, the N Scale Vehicle Association is considering giving Trainworx a new and special "award" in recognition of this accomplishment.  It will likely be presented at the National N Scale Convention in Sacramento next week.

And speaking of the convention, Pat has told me that the truck parts (including parts that have been tooled, but not used in the first five models) will be on display there.  And as Daniel stated, the decorated parts will be available separately.  I am really looking forward to those 10-hole allow wheels in order to upgrade my Kato Volvos!

It's hard to tell from the image available, but both the W900 and K100 appear to have headlights that indicate 1960s heritage.  Oh please, please, please...

Bryan,

Yes, the headlights for he W900 and K100 (as well as the trucks  :) ) have their origins in the 1960s.  However, the prototypes in the Trainworx releases are mid to late 1970s models.  Once I see these in person, I will be able to offer suggestions for backdating to the 1960s.  I know the W900 will have the wrong doors and door handles (those changed in 1972) and the K100's raised roof AERODYNE sleeper first appeared in 1976.

Most of these are too new and shiny for me, but I just love the '54 (and later) 281 tanker! Now that's a TRUCK!
For you truck guys, could one backdate it to fit on a '51 era layout? If not, I'll just wing it, it's too cool to pass up!
Thanks, Otto K.

Otto,

Peterbilt made some significant design differences from their previous conventionals when they produced the 281/351.  However, it may be possible to backdate the truck to an early 1950s Kenworth.  The grille is the most obvious spotting difference, but the fenders and headlight mounts would also need to be modified.  I am hoping to get some good photos of the parts that Pat had tooled to see just what the kitbasing potential will be for these trucks.
