I got my well car in the mail this week, and I thought I'd take some quick pics and pass on a few observations...
First off this car is beautiful! it's much smaller then I expected from the pictures online truly a gem. The diamond plate is probably the finest I've ever seen in N scale and should be shown to anyone who says it must be ridiculously out of scale to be visible...
- The car is press fit construction, I like the fact that there is almost no glue involved (the coupler box/stirrup assembly at one end was glued in place, I'm thinking both ends should have been more later)
- It comes mounted with MT 2004 couplers Atlas trucks and FVM wheels. I want to call ESM out for using OEM parts rather then Chinese knockoffs, always nice to see a manufacturer support the community...
- The grab irons are cast on and very fine, the brake line through the opera windows is a nice touch.
- The paint is nice and even and the printing is well done, with all but the smallest lettering clear and legible. (and that lettering is tiny, the CAPY is about 1/4 the size of an average MT car)
Now for the nits... There is quite a bit of flash on the cast metal part and the brake wheel, it shouldn't be too hard to clean up however.
and my car shook itself apart in transit, the coupler box that wasn't glued came apart, the other end was fine. I am thinking this is a one off and was easy to correct.
All in all I'm very happy and can't wait to get it into the project cue...

Here's a few shots, please forgive my photography...
