Oh, cool, Rick! I have two sets of these I need to do (ATSF 90 and UP)
Tell us more please.... did you have to modify the LL frame to make room for speakers or decoder? How hard was it to insulate the motor? What decoders are you using in the associated non-sound(?) A units(s) and do they play nicely together with the ESU?

Installed an 80 foot turntable last night

took a video of FM sounds from startup thru shutdown, playing a bit with the manual notching. these units are draw bared together, the A units have DN123 decoders. each unit programmed for top speed of 60mph +/-

with the units being draw barred, and being fitted with diaphragms, you could put a speaker in each unit and not see the wires passing thru the end windows!

Last night I laid a garden track and the lead to the turntable. I also mocked up the last three sidings. There is a pocket track for the team track on the front of the layout. As of right now, it is long enough to hold three random Micro Trains forty foot cars (I tested it with both my 1972 series cars and my weathered Southern Pacific wooden cars).  I plan to put a freight depot near the engine house, and I plan to either stick the depot down the siding that runs off of the current layout.

I have taken all the sound-equipped locos, but especially the C Liners, down to CV63=35 or 40.  With 6 C Liners, 3 S2s, 2 F7Ps (and occasionally 2 GMD-1s) all running it can get pretty loud (and annoying) during a session.  This month's op session tonight is "Full Sound Test 2"...more tomorrow.
