There is also one NYC on ebay... The A/C cars seem to definitely be gone tho.

Dave, did you track one down?

The Railwire is not your personal army.

The model has 28" wheels, as did the prototype.

Bryan,

Thanks for the confirmation about the wheel size. I'll also be swapping them out for "fine scale" wheel sets.

Received mine D&H one yesterday and it is a very nicely done model indeed.

Thank you for doing these less common prototypes as they add variety to the consists of freight trains.

Regards,

Bob Witt

Here's some more incentive to grab a well car before they are gone:  Geared wheel payload.

I should receive test shots from Shapeways around the end of the month.  If they look good, they will go on sale in July.  Both in Ultra and Extreme resolution.

Very nice. I would buy this in a heartbeat, but I missed the A-C car and that is the only one I'm interested in.

Very nice. Definitely in if they come to pass.

Picked up LV and PC from Pete at BLW and NYC from the second shipment at MBK (late decision on my part). Thanks again for these cars and this follow-up!

Brian,

Thanks of your idea of a geared wheel.  I have been thinking of getting a nautical propeller from a RC boat store in town and using it for the load.  Your concept has given me hints about how to brace it.  Thanks.

Keep me in the loop about what you find in your search.  I'm wanting the same for those MEC low-side gons Bryan has coming down the pike.

Best thing to do is search online for flatcar and gon pics with oversized payloads.  I watch the railroad slides auctions on eBay, and this March 1971 pic was the inspiration for this geared wheel load.

Put me down for that load. Robbman convinced me to get the D&H one.

Hey @bbussey, will those loads fit in the F25 cars?

Pretty sure the two models have the same XY dimensions but I will confirm.  F25 well is 3.6mm longer and 0.5mm narrower.  Payload will fit, but the bottom of the bracing may have to be shaved slightly.

This photo of an SP well car has a flywheel payload, but the mounting would be similar for a propeller.

That's awesome! As you say, "we're modelers."
