Question for the NYC experts- did the cars keep their vertical brake wheels throughout their history?
Tom D.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

Are there any other roadnames they could get away with on the body?

It is sort of the usra standard that was never built... I'll have to check the Mainline Modeller article when I get home, but I think these NYC clones are it....

Man I could use a few of these! I'm glad BLI is really starting to get involved in N Scale.

You can find photos of some of the subsidiaries at this site:

http://www.canadasouthern.com/caso/nyc-subs.htm

For additional photos of other NYC versions at:

http://www.canadasouthern.com/caso/nyc-freight.htm

The Nothhampton and Bath received some second hand and there is the colorful Universal Cement car recently done by MTL on their "USRA Box Car body".

I believe there are others. A brief history and additional roads can be found at the Westerfield as did did many of the versions in HO scale.

I am surely no NYC expert, but there is this photo of a P&E version with a re-weigh date of 1-64 done at Beach Grove Shops "BG" still with its vertical brake shaft.

I notice they don't list code 40 track as "compatible", although code 100 is.

I noticed that on my NW hopper... They listed a code 55, 83, 100 compatibility... Probably just their HO roots showing...
The wheels are fine flanged if not a little wide in the tread :)

 :)
the HO NYC Boxcar had 2 different ends, the early Youngstown/Murphy
ends, and the after 1927 early Dreadnaught Ends.
is BLI doing this in N ?
also seem to recall 2 different doors, early Creco/Car Builders Doors,
  and later Younstown doors.
they also had ARA "U" Section looking trucks.
there was some fit problems with the HO doors, but don't recall
   what it was ??
the cars did look nice.,a change from X-29s and ARA boxcars.

(As long as they don't come with sound....)
Otto K.

I can see the options now...
1. Sound of freight shifting
2. Sound of hobos singing
3. Sound of empty
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

There are a couple of errors in the BLW listing.  Here is the official product catalog page.

http://www.broadway-limited2.com/productguide2015/html5/index.html?page=85

I'm in for the single NYC car with Dreadnaught ends and post-1955 deco.  I'll also be on the lookout for a single car from the B&A four-pack.

believe the "Universal Cement" cars were assigned to the N&B
by the owner of both concerns,US Steel.
so the cars weren't actually Second hand cars, just reassigned.
