Looking forward to this. I am an hour away.

BTW - If I were in to old reefers I would consider their special run of "Beers of California", 3 different packs. I remember drinking River City Dark in the 80's!

There will be even more SPF's in Sacramento. We'll be there and we're also taking the train together with Matt Gaudinsky. I'm really looking forward to that trip :).

Planning to make some of it, sans a module.  Found a few N scalers from the OC going, but so far none from San Diego.  Anyone?

There's hardly any room for the modules that we already have...in fact we are only bringing about half of ours due to space restrictions.

Yup, should be a packed room! With the space constraints, we couldn't get everyone into the layout that wanted to be a part of it. I think the layout coordinator did his best with what he had. See you at the show.

Logistic realities are understood.  But it kinda bites that there is to be a module contest, yet ability to enter is gated by clubs with the real estate.

The whole module thing is meant to allow linkages and meet new folks, rather than being some club-centric concept of transporting the same layout from location to location.    Don't want to start I rant, but am I wrong?

Case in point, a few weeks back I was at a Rail days, and one club had multiple module (not going to say who's or even what gauge) that were rather nasty, ratty & dusty crap stuck in only as they needed "their loop".   Hmmm, perhaps I just talked myself into making the plunge into Free-moN.

Jake,
I didn't notice there would be a module contest. Maybe I misread it as a "model" contest.
Our FreeMo-N layout is a good demonstration of why the standard allows for flexibility of layout design (each layout is unique) and maximization of real estate. If we had a sliver of extra space on one of the walls, we could have added an entire 35 ft branch line from a member from out of state. He was willing to travel and we would have loved to add him to the layout. If you make it to the show, stop by and say hello. Should be a great time, on all layouts. For those who are members of the NSE, there is an article about the layouts in the latest magazine.

I will be in attendance also.  Looking forward to heading back out to the west coast.  Several good trips planned during the convention.   Hopefully things go well with my Southworst flight.  4 hours in a aluminum tube.

Does anyone know how much entry to just the swap meet or public show is?

We get done with training Thursday night, and heading home Friday, so might change my return flight if it isn't too bad.

I'm looking on the website but don't see those as separate items. Maybe you can send an email using the contact address on this page:
