Finally got JMRI hooked up and running. Knocked out my first decoder install in the Model Power 4-6-2 as well. Big weekend electrically. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

That's pretty neat. Is that the Titchy offering?

Drew, it's a ConCor 160 ton that looks close enough to the B&M 250 ton.

Well done Specter3, I know how difficult my first decoder install was. The rest become much easier now that you have JMRI.

Cool project!.....And, to add to the B&M theme, here is a caboose I'm almost done with.....

Thanks for looking!

Very nice. What color red did you use for the ends?

(Attachment Link) No modeling yet, but while removing trash and debris out of Plunge Creek with a group of volunteers this morning, stumbled on this delightful diorama. Understand it's all for sale.... It's in Higland, CA, not too far off the old Redlands Loop.

This is great - if that was a narrow gauge caboose it would look like an On30 diorama!

Received a wonderful gift in the post yesterday...some soil and rock from under the bridge at Holy Moses Wash in Kingman Canyon! Thank You, Clem Harris!
Now I can start matching some flat latex interior paint and AZ Rock and Mineral products to get me back on track on the layout!

Reworked the MTL baggage car into some sort of foob/prototype/Cylon hybrid.

Replaced the doors and trucks. If you look closely, you will see a rim around the porthole. I drilled the hole too small and reamed it out with a round needle file. My technique resulted in this raised edge. I'll weather the hell out of this and glaze the windows.

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Very nice. What color red did you use for the ends?

I'm afraid my answer probably won't help much, I used 20-25 year old Accu-Paint(!), I used B&M blue with a little white added(Tru-Color white actually, they are that interchangeable!), and Chinese Red for the ends...The Tru-color paints should be the same, or very close....On a side note I use lacquer thinner to thin these, not acetone, with far better results....and it obviously hasn't hurt the paint!

Help you have as I have quite a large collection of Accupaint most in New England flavors. Chinese red on the ends looks good to me. I have always used Acetone as thinner. What makes the lacquer thinner better?

I have just had reliable results with it, and not so much with acetone...I always get a nice, shiny surface, my results with acetone have often been less predictable...sometimes chalky?...Just thought I'd share, what works for me may not for everyone!
