Geoff Gooderham (Angus Shops)has created a line of CPR prototype based heavyweight cars like some of the requests found in this thread. His Solarium car is a CPR "Cape" prototype but is similar to many found on other railways. I'd recommend Geoff's shells and kits to anyone who wants unique heavyweights or CPR style cars and still believes that modelling is more than opening a jewel case and putting the car on the tracks......

Sleeper/Lounge/Buffet/Solarium

70' First Class wooden side truss rod coach

Express baggage

Express baggage

Coach-express baggage combine

Geoff's wooden side collection
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Chris,
By all accounts, they are doing a CB&Q Baggage Mail (Jerry Laboda linked a photo of the prototype on one of the recent MT car threads, maybe this one).  But the general door layout is similar to the car you posted.

How about this-
Do a western single window coach
Midwestern or southern coach-baggage
Then (just to prove anything is possible) put out a Stillwell (or better, 2 Stillwells- one in the 11 window suburban commuter version, and one in the long distance coach version)- granted, you might bankrupt every Erie modeler out there in the initial release, but you could also sell 4 each to C&WI modelers, and the ATSF version would become a collectors item that will sell for hundreds on eBay in a few years.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

I believe that Joe did use Chris' suggestion for ERIE baggage car to produce that car, back when they were lookign for a prototype car.  Will Chris get his wish for yet another ERIE prototype?   We will have to wait and see.

Forgot to thank Chris for his generous financial donation to my family retirement budget.   With an Erie Mail Express I should be able to make that down payment on the house in Costa Rica  :D

Joe CAN'T BE BOUGHT.......... I REPEAT, HE CANNOT BE BOUGHT.................. :RUEffinKiddingMe:

He can, on the other hand, be rented, leased, bribed, paid off, put on the pad or made interested in any other form of incentive based compensation you care to offer............

So; break open that piggy bank (ok; in Ed's case a bacon bank) and see how much you have to donate to "Big Joe D's school for wayward girls"..... it could just land you the next MTL heavyweight prototype "naming rights"......

(This advert not intended to solicit bribes from those who have already done so)

Joe.

I'm pretty flexible.  I'm open to any passenger car.... as long as it has a full Harriman roof.

Come on.... you KNOW you want to do it.

I could definitely use:
Illinois Central Harriman coaches (full-length)
Southern Ry 60' baggage-express
10-section lounge
8-1-2 Pullmans

I dug through the threads and found some links to the CB&Q cars. They look pretty close to the Erie car posted above. I can live with that.
