Here are the first shots of the nose and the cab back.  The numberboards are still in tooling and I should see those soon.

Getting close.

Joe

I need a cigarette.  Will the parts be available separately be it shell, or casting?

Wow!  A separate mold insert unique to one railroad! Impressive!

Does that also include the proper lighting effects included in the model?
Just kidding!

Well almost half of the SW1500 production was for SP.

Still, that is impressive.  Look for example at how many RDCs B&M had and there was no RTR model of B&M RDC from Kato.  I know, it is not quite the same but still...

Plus, you can't expect that half of all the SW1500 N scale models MT will ever produce will be purchased by SP modelers.  That would be a very tall order.  I think the proportion of modelers who model SP to the modelers who model other railroads in the same as the production numbers of the 1:1 loco.

Granted lobotomized but most second hand sw1500 are SP as well.  Athearn seems to be doing well with SP specific models.  Peteski it is not a criticism,  I just grateful there is another source of things SP.  I'll enjoy it while it last.

I don't particularly care about SP, but I STILL think this is really cool.

Kudos to MTL for doing something really cool here.

I sure didn't think you were criticizing anything and neither was I.  I was genuinely impressed.

"It's not easy, being green..." K Frog

I echo the kudo's to MTL for taking the time to tool a specific road name's unit..... well done guys!
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Will this shell be available undec at some point in time?

Looking forward to some more Cali' love too

With the passenger cars behind it - isn't there a excursion train / museum / movie railroad around the Ventura/Oxnard area?

Yes, number boards will be separate and I would suspect all the parts will be available though your usual back door channels.   :D  I want to have all these parts we've done for the 1500 available, just takes time to catalog, number and get production done to pull it off.   I am hoping to get my samples painted and decaled this weekend so I can get a few running on the Orphan Spur.  Will keep you posted.
