So unlike Apple Computer products where the are "Designed in US and made in China", these are completely done in China?  That explains a lot (why they aren't designed to Kato-like precision standard).

I do know that some IM parts (like the truck assemblies)  are in fact identical to Atlas ones.

Everything is done in china, all of the talented designers we once had are G...O....N...E... 

That's also why the motors are the same...

Sorry about that, let me clarify... the artisans of atlas, bman, FVM, and other companies are in china, the US company specifices details and acts as a distributor. I learned this when I was pricing out a new locomotive model... not very cheap, $100,000 to get the tooling done. Plus the cost of each unit.  :|
