Years ago, DKS sent me some flat wire which is about the equivalent of code 25.  I used it to build my z scale diorama, but never tried N until now.  This is a little test I put together for modeling old, little used track:

That track is beautiful, Tom.  I like how the rail just rolls and sags in spots, like real neglected track often does.  It's tough to get this effect to look as nice with flextrack, because you can't get each rail to wander independently of the other.

Which wheels will run on that  (esp. locos)?   or is it strictly for scenic purposes?

(obviously, pizza cutters need not apply)

Assuming there's no spikes, anything with flanges under 0.025" should run fine.  I'll leave it to you guys with the micrometers to figure that out.  But, judging by Tom's original post, this is just a test, presumably for scenic purposes only.

Looks like regular solid wire to me - ca you get a better close up?

Things can run on it.  DKS built an entire layout with it, even with a scratchbuilt turnout!  However, I was going for the partially buried track look and while MT mid-pro wheels roll on it, they roll rough.

The issue is that there is so much gunk on the rails still that in some places it does look round. :facepalm: :tommann:

It looks so natural because the proportions seem right.  Put some code 80 in that picture for comparison.  That would be interesting.
