Neolube for sale - 2 oz $12 - NOW SHIPPING (22-Jan-2015)

UPDATE:
I will start mailing these out today, Jan 22, 2015.  The test shipment arrived just fine.
There is more at the end of this thread.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EVERYBODY:  PLEASE NOTE ****

When you send me payment, give me your name and address IN THE PAYPAL notes
(or just include it if you are sending a payment in the mail).    It is very hard to
associate incoming payments to previous private messages and emails, so I cannot
always tell from the paypal notice WHO it is from and what address I should use
unless you put it in there.

THANKS!

-//////   END OF EDIT //////

For most of you, you already know what this is about from the longer-standing thread in the N/Z Scale forum.

I have made a bulk purchase of Neolube, the alcohol/graphite solution that is great for weathering locomotives, track,
and other things.  Micro Mark sells it for $18 + $7.95 shipping.
PBL has it for under $12, but they have a minimum order of $25, and of course, there is also a shipping charge tacked on.

I have purchased glass 2 oz jars so I can rebottle it and pass it along to fellow model railroaders as cheaply as I can.

It is $12 per jar, shipping is free anywhere in the continental U.S.   It cannot ship by air and to most international destinations
(postal regulations).  But I *may* be able to send it to Canada since that would still be sent by surface.  If anyone from Canada
contacts me, I will check on this.

To order:

Just send me a PM, and I will give you address and PayPal info.  I am conducting a test shipment right now, to make sure my
packing method is secure.  Assuming that goes okay, I will send any other orders out starting early next week.

Thanks!

Link to the previous information thread on NeoLube, including all sorts of discussion of what its good for and some photos
showing models with it applied to them:

Just a quick FYI...
I've been fielding all the PM requests for info, and I *think* I have responded to them all.  If a day or so goes by
and you do not get a reply from me, ping me again.  It's quite possible for me to miss one.

And remember, I am sending out all the requests and compiling all the orders, but I won't send any more out
until early next week after my test case arrives safely at its destination.

Update:

I have checked with the US Post Office.
Sending small quantities of flammables (like Neolube) is

1. YES for Alaska
2. NO for Hawaii
3. NO for Canada

So if you are in the Continental 48 US states, or Alaska, I can ship it to you.  But otherwise, no.

Rather interesting that it will go to Alaska and not Canada. If it goes ground which I think it would it has to go through Canada? Just an observation, not a question.

Hmm... I bet it goes
by kayak...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Regulations, specially related to international trade, are rarely rational or consistent.

I'm trying to find some locally in Canada, there seem to be quite a few types of neolube.  What exactly neolube product are people using on their layouts?

Jon

As the Alaska test case, I am glad that the USPS will ship it here. I too thought this funny, but the simplest explanation is that it remains in the USPS delivery system throughout. Its not like they hand it off to the Canadians/Canadiens at the border who transport it to the Alaskan border. As much as people like to complain about the USPS they do a pretty good job in my opinion.

Thanks Max for providing this service. I have been unable to get this in Alaska from our local hobby store and am looking forward to using it (carefully) on my turnout points.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Someone mail some to Alaska and I'll try to intercept it somewhere in BC.

It's not a matter of the physical route.  It simply cannot go into another country because that involves the material leaving US hands.

The exact product is Neolube No 2, made by Huron Industries, in Michigan.

Max, you're a better man than I am.... that's quite a service you're providing to your fellow (modeler) man. I hope they appreciate the effort. Neolube is great stuff, including and especially around turnouts 8)
Best, Otto K.

Why THANK YOU, Otto!   Yes, to be honest, it has been a pain filling all the jars, keeping track of all the addresses, packing everything into boxes, addressing,.... etc etc etc.   But hopefully it will all work out.
If the requests keep trickling in, I think I can break even on this, and that's really all I was worried about.
Otherwise, I figure it's just one way I can "put my shoulder to the wheel" for model railroading.

We need more people doing this...we're all in this together!

I will add my public thanks as well.   I try to support these kinds of deals whenever I can.  And I always hope that it's not one of those "no good deed goes unpunished" types of efforts.

I'm not even 100% sure what I'm gonna be using the Neolube for, but I'm interested in it for weathering cars and wheels and track.   I bought one for me and one that I'm gonna loan out to my n-scale pals if they have a need or if they just want to experiment.  Doesn't sound like something that gets used up quickly.
NOTE: I'm no longer active on this forum.   If you need to contact me, use the e-mail address (or visit the website link) attached to this username.  Thanks.
