Been Laying track again this week. Almost done the second main line. Some spots look like the track is bowing because it is not glued down there because switches will need to be cut in when i get the #10's.

And for something a little different this week, a video!

The back story: The regional NMRA meet was held recently and associated with it was a public show.  Someone from a large Vancouver newspaper - the Sun - attended and afterwards the video crew emailed the NMRA about finding a local layout to shoot so they could represent the hobby to the public.  The good people in Chattanooga emailed their representative in this corner of Canada (Russ Watson) who as it happened had attended an Ops session on the C&W as part of the meet!  To cut a long story a bit, after two hours of videoing and a few weeks of waiting their video was posted today.  Overall I am happy with it...although I wish their cameras had better depth of focus!

Sorry 'bout the ad at the beginning but seems they pay the bills!

Have a Great weekend!

Mark, what a wonderful video and a great representation of N scale as realistic railroad operations amid striking and beautiful scenery requiring thoughtful model engineering.

Because the CFL and Gray Cup are over before the US Thanksgiving and hockey doesn't get really interesting until the trading deadline. Meanwhile it is cold and dark thus providing a lot of time to work on the RR.

The last of the crazy Christmas moves on the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines. We needed the work train for this one.  :)

My son (the other family nerd) and 2 of his 6 kids arrived for a post-Christmas visit with presents. This year's prize was a USS Enterprise Spatula which now takes it's prized place along side of my Enterprise pizza cutter (see the December 2012 post in my blog), my Klingon Bat'leth letter opener and the Star Trek "Battle Stations" motion sensor.

Neither of us will ever grow up.
Now the PRSL can return to the 1950s.

I'm so down with the Starfleet addition.....!!!!!!!

The ex Inland paper mill in Beaumont TX. makes the finest coated sheet for corrugated printing in North America. I have used untold tonnes of this linerboard called PCL and have watched it arrive in various facilities for 30 years. Often it arrived in either SP or ATSF 50' boxcars (back in the 80's we received so much of it we got to "know" the cars....)

I wanted to add a couple of ATSF car to my fleet to represent inbound shipments of this linerboard to my corrugated plant. I chose to "almost" replicate BX66's as these were close to what I remember coming into the plant. I wanted one in the original livery and one or two in the newer version....

Before getting sick I worked on the older one, now I'm working on the newer......

Other than the number of panels the car is close. I added the skid plates at the door base and the cross bracing and used Micro Scale decals for the car. It will now be weathered and eventually have the couplers body mounted.

There were numerous series of BX66's so I chose a couple that I thought were representative of what I used to see.... Should add some switching fun to the corrugate plant.
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Laid some track for the grain elevator over the course of the week.

I also finished the decals on my IAIS SD20, this was a just for the heck of it build and so far has been a fun one.

Having lived in Richmond BC I can say with 100% certainty that if it's not raining right now....

WAIT FOR IT...... IT WILL RAIN.... FOR DAYS ON END........
