RR Picture Archives not available?

Is anyone else having trouble with http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/ ?  The site is still there, and individual pictures can still be accessed, but none of the main pages seem to work.  I get "Page Cannot Be Found" on both Firefox and IE8, and have since just after midnight this morning.

http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ says the site is up, and it's just me, which is probably right, since the picture pages still work.

Site errors wouldn't make the site be 'down'.  It's still connecting, it's just broken when you get there.

I can't get to any of the pages either.

They seem to have these issues from time to time.  Probably take 24 hours or so before someone figures out it's not acting properly again.

I had the same problem with Trainboard a few days ago.

Jason:  You're right, and that's why I agreed with "Down For Everyone" that it was "just me".  The pictures themselves still load, so the servers and data storage have to be working.  Something's wrong with the site coding, or the home page(s) have been deleted.

I was just wondering if it might be something in my browsers, or computer, that was blocking the site.  That's happened before too.  If it's doing the same to you, it's not at my end.  Thank you.

Brian:  If you say they've had this problem before I'll believe you, as I often go days or weeks without visiting the site.  They seem to go down regularly between midnight and 1 am Eastern time.  I've finally decided that that's when they do their routine updates.  But in those cases there's no, or very slow, response, but no error messages.  This time the error message pops up faster than the actual site usually does.

Just checked and it came up on this side of the pond.  Still a little slow, but looks to be back to normal.

Ha, yes I have that problem too.   I seriously wish you could just send rrpicturearchives a hard drive and have them copy their site and send it back to you.

Yep, back now.  Was definitely not working right this morning, the homepage was giving 404 not found.  It was the site, not your computer or browser.

Seriously, such a deep collection of pictures and yet so disappointing as a website.  When it's not down, it's slow.  And please, oh please, let us search photos by date.

Yes, it works for me tonight.  I work 3pm - 11pm Eastern, with commuting time, which is why the odd hours online...

I think part of the reason for the "disappointing" website is probably lack of funds.  Website software can be home written,  but the hardware and connections aren't cheap.  I have no idea what happened last night, but their almost predictable slow response sounds like inadequate bandwidth, and possibly updates bogging the system down.  Since I've noticed that it seems to happen most often just after midnight Eastern time, I suspect that's when they load the day's new pictures.  Or maybe it happens at other times and that's just the only time I'm trying to use it!

In response to these outages/slowdowns, does everyone have alternate sites to get pictures ?  I am getting ready to start weathering some cars and while most are just going to be general fade/rust jobs, it's nice to see the actual car at some point.  I went thru my fleet of 15 CSX 2 bay covered hoppers and the site only had 1 of my numbers.
